The city called me for the first time when we planned to visit the dual hill-stations Khandala and Lonavala; then it called us the second and third time to Shirdi and Lohagad Fort trek. From then, the frequency of calls has only increased, giving me delightful jitters every time an idea rings. Here are all the things you can try in and around Pune.

Sinhagad Trek :
Starting point: Donje Gaon
Distance from Pune: 20 km
We do this trek to reach Sinhagad fort. The fort, strategically built to provide natural protection, is part of the triumvirate Sinhagad, Rajgad and Torna.
Torna Fort Trek:
Starting point: Velhe village
Distance from Pune: 48 km
Situated at an altitude of 4,603 ft, Torna Fort is the highest hillfort in the Pune District.
Lonavala Bhimashankar Trek:

Distance from Pune: 68 km
One of the best secluded treks near Pune, the Lonavala Bhimashankar trek crosses deep wild rainforest, small rivulets, remote tribal villages and waterfalls.
Kalavantin Durg Trek:

Absolutely perfect for beginners, you can do this trek to reach Kalavantin Fort at an altitude of 2200 feet.
Pawna Lake: Pawna lake is a man-made lake with the perfect backdrop of mountainous beauty. Here, you can spend a day at leisure or indulge in paragliding, advanced kiting and ridge dancing.
Lonavala: The “city of caves' and the “Jewel of Sahyadri”, Lonavala is a hill station. You must visit the spectacular rock cut Bhaja and Karla caves in Lonavala that leave tourists in awe with their old beams, motifs and inscriptions.
Kolad: Water-lovers, come here. Kolad is a tiny hamlet in the Raigad district of Maharashtra.
Igatpuri: Located 240 km from Pune, A blissful destination for the hikers.
Mahabaleshwar: Another hill station in the Western Ghats, Mahabaleshwar is a revered religious site, famous for its strawberries, waterways, superb falls, and grand pinnacles.

Khandala: “Aati Kya Khandala,” located very near to Lonavala, Khandala caught Bollywood’s attention for its dying scenery.
