Bhatinda, also spelled as ëBathindaí is situated on the Bathinda Branch Canal in the Indian state of Punjab. It is situated in the Malwa Plains and located about 335 km northwest of the Indian capital city of New Delhi. The ancient name of Bhatinda was ëBikramgarh,í after which it took several names such as ëTabarhindh,ë ëBatrind,í ëWhatindaí and ëBithunda.í The city is known to have been built by one of the rulers of Punjab named Bhatti Rao, from where the cityís name has also been derived from. Maharaja Ala Singh, the Maharaja of Patiala gained control of the city in 1754, after which it became a princely state. In 1956, Bhatinda became a part of Punjab. About Bhopal
