Terrific hotel with a fascinating history and great service. Onsen was spotless, not crowded and with terrific amenities. Only ate breakfast there, which was either western style or Japanese style, and both were delicious. It is somewhat out of the way, but that was a purpose for staying there. Within walking distance to town where you can catch buses or take one of the boats to other parts of the Lake. Must point out the extremely helpful front desk staff and one in particular who helped us in tracking down and retrieving some items inadvertently left in a Tokyo hotel.

The room was not very clean when we stayed there. The amenities are old. The view and the garden were gorgeous. And location was good -close to bus station, not very crowded and quite close to the lake.

The rooms could use some renovations but for the price.... Including breakfast AND dinner you can't beat this place. It was clean, service was awesome they went out of their way to pick us up after the shuttle stopped. I'd say 8.5 outta 10. I'd def recommend.

Wonderful hotel and beautiful garden with views overlooking lake Ashi and Fuji san. The rooms are spacious for Japanese standard and beds are large for a twin room. The rooms does lack modern decor and technology such as USB ports, however it does make up with the lake view and free shuttles to Motorhakone. It takes approx 16 mins to walk to Motorhakone and 5 mins to Hakone shrine with the famous Tori Gate floating on lake ashi. We had two dinners and breakfasts at the Japanese restaurant, the food and service were outstanding and they were able to catered for my non red meat diet. Their onsen baths were wonderfully relaxing and soothing.

This was a great hotel to stay. The hotel was very luxurious for me. But this was the only hotel near the lake that was still available though. But it was not a bad experience. It was really nice that the staff was super helpful! The Onsen in the hotel was really nice and the view from the hotel room is always facing the lake. So you always have a great view. The restaurants in the hotel are really good. And there is a lounge available on the first floor. Note that the lounge is open till 9 pm. So for a little bit later drink is not possible. That was for me a downside. Staying in the village nearby was not really a solution. The road towards the hotel is very dark at night and it is a 20 min walk. Overall the hotel was a very good experience and would recommend this hotel.
