An absolutely beautiful hotel, clearly a 4 star hotel and in my opinion borderline 5 star. Great position to the city centre and one minute walk from the river. We didn’t have a breakfast as they only offered a tray in your room. The only spoiler for me. I would definitely be returning in the future.

Excellent location. Rooms are large and modern. They use a bit too much Dettol to clean and the front room windows could be sound proofed, but otherwise a fabulous stay.

DO NOT BOOK AWFUL EXPERIENCE My boyfriend booked Jorvik house for a weekend in York. 1. THE ONLY THING ANY HOTEL SHOULD HAVE IS A COMFY BED. But the mattress had two dips pressed through like it’s decade old. I could feel the flat bed frame surface in the deepest point. I couldn’t sleep on it, my back hurt so badly next day. We asked staff to move us to another room, but they were «fully booked». Administrator told us they might change the mattress but that never happened. She brought extra duvet to put on the mattress which didn’t help a bit. 2. When you book you see spacious fancy rooms with freestanding bathtubs etc. All the rooms are the same price. What we got was an average hotel room, slightly bigger than the bed, with a small bathroom. Not spacious, old tired and very hot room. Extractor fan in the bathroom wasn’t working, toilet roll holder was flimsy and broken. view from the window is great as well. IF YOU GET ROOM NUMBER 8 TRY TO CHANGE IT RIGHT AWAY. all that is for £200 per night!

Great hotel with very friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Location is perfect for the city centre, right opposite the gates to the park and access to shops and all the sights just a short walk away! Parking is just around the corner but is expensive at £18 a day, but that’s what you expect in a tourist centre location! Rooms are very nicely presented and bed was comfortable (we were in room 11, Luxury Double). Only slight complaint is that acoustics between rooms is poor and that you can hear everything from the adjacent & above rooms. WiFi is also pretty poor but local 5G was pretty good. Mini bar as in most hotels is also pricey but that’s the norm these days. Staff on greeting us and booking in were very welcoming and were attentive when we came and went each day…would recommend this hotel as a comfortable place to stay and visit the city of York 👍
