Qubus Hotel Gdansk

Great location, checkin experience was not great - no information given nor even told what room we were, just given the keycard. Breakfast and rooms were decent. Our room had a complimentary water that had a broken seal and was 1/3 drank. Wouldn’t classify this a 4*

I stayed here for 4 nights in mid August and was happy I chose this hotel for this trip. I got a riverside room in the 5th floor. The room was awesome: the room had a very fresh & fancy "grain warehouse" interior. I couldn't have had expected that! I had seen some photos in the booking site before the stay and I assumed I'll get something "clean but very generic". The bathroom was not the exact same style, but still very clean and functional. The bed was good, and I was positively surprised that at the end of the bed there were 2 pcs of bed covers. Very handy. I also appreciated that instead of a minibar, there was an empty cooler. Wifi connection was the best ever. I liked the room so much it would actually be a disappointment to come back and end up in some generic room... The window to the river was not actually "very small", it was just placed high up. True, you won't be able to lie on a bed and see the river. It can be "a demerit". But as an average length person, I didn't have to climb on a chair to see out from the window... I don't know if 6th floor is different. Sound insulation inside of the hotel was very good, but there are some traffic noise you should take into consideration. It didn't bother me, but yes the trams kept having "clunk-clunk, clunk-clunk, clunk-clunk" sound from early morning till the late evening. The location was very handy, in case you don't need a train or don't want to stay right in the Old town. There's only one busy road between the hotel and the Old town. You can use either an underpass or a crosswalk (with traffic lights). Some people might find the tunnel option as "a shady one", but it is actually just like any other tram stop tunnel in the city. Also, the area has developed quite lot in a short time. The neighbourhood looked quite depressing on Google Maps, but in reality there are lots of wealthy new buildings nearby. The breakfast had been highly praised, and yes, it was very nice, but I didn't get the "wow" feeling. It was something what every good hotel sould have: a balanced selection of grain products & toppings, warm food (bacon, eggs, etc.), hot & cold drinks, diary products, and fresh fruits & berries. I wish they would have had served pancakes every day, and liquid honey or syrup with them. Unfortunately, I was not exited about the do-it-yourself waffel machine. The bereakfast room was quite small and hectic, but around 8 o'clock there was always a place to sit. On a first morning it was a bit surprising that visitors didn't care about the serving lineups at all. I learned that you just have to act like you'd do in your own kitchen. Just go and take what you need and when you need. Just directly grab the bacon tongs, don't care if somebody's already taking omelette and next moving to bacon... But please don't touch the cheese by your fingers... I saw that... The room is cleaned every 3rd day unless you want it more often. But be aware of that: I asked a clean up on 2nd day, and the room was anyway cleaned on 3rd day too. As a constructive feedback to the hotel: I understand most of the visitors just sleep there and go to the Old town, but in my opinion, the hotel should advertise their services more openly. For example, I didn't see any advertisement about the boat trip. How about the day spa — what kind of services are available? Maybe share a service brochure in each room — and please also leave a friendly message if the water bottles are a complementary gift or not (confusing). The riverside terrace — what's happening there? Maybe advertise it in an elevator and invite hotel quests to have a drink at the terrace?
