Had a 3 day stay at Grand Hotel D' Europe. The stay was really nice. The hotel is inside the white town with all major cafes, flea market, beaches and tourist attractions in close vicinity. You could take a stroll around the white town and the beaches as these are nearby. Found the surroundings to be cleaner than its counterparts. The rooms are clean and are very beautiful quite unlike the pictures available online.The food was great and I suggest go for the seafood curries and French onion soup.

Here go the pluses: - The hotel is historic & is situated right at the heart of the French quarters of Whitetown Pondicherry. - The rooms are spacious, elegant keeping with the ambiance of the place. - The central location of the hotel is its biggest plus. The Rock beach is a 5 minutes walk. The restaurants & cafe’s are all walkable. The Aurobindo Ashram, the market place, the Manakular Vinakayam temple, the churches, the promenades etc., are all walkable. Things that could have been better: - The hotel could do better in terms of providing options of paid tours or organized tours around the city. They could have better tie-ups with local institutions & businesses to offer a wider range of activities for the hotel guests. - The food service could have been better in terms of time taken to serve dishes as well as their quality. A simple coffee would sometimes take a good 30 minutes! - Looks like the hotel is understaffed. Multiple requests had to be made for pool towels & basic amenities like replenishing the toiletries etc., which takes away from having a good stay experience! Overall, recommend this place for its centrality of location & for the beautiful spacious rooms!

Beautiful property! Old world charm with all the luxuries of modern world! The rooms are beautifully done. Missed a bathtub which would have been a wonderful addition to an already excellent room. Service & food is great. It's at the heart of white town and you can walk to any of the local attractions easily. They can also arrange cabs for you for local tours. We booked a cab through them to visit Auroville and the experience was seamless. Would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Pondicherry!
