During our visit to Chennai on 21st October, we booked two rooms at the GT Grand hotel for a two-day stay. However, due to a terrible experience, we decided to leave after just one day. Our stay at the GR Grand Hotel was extremely disappointing. The hotel lacked proper car parking facilities, forcing us to park on the road side or in front of other properties. Additionally, the hotel had a bar attached to it, and loud music played constantly day and night. The noise was so bad that we could hear police sirens in the middle of the night, and the music only stopped then. Moreover, the people from the bar were very noisy, and it was challenging to get a peaceful atmosphere. The AC in the room was controlled by a fixed temperature and single speed, and there was no remote. I called reception several times to get someone to check the AC, but nobody arrived. The room was infested with cockroaches, and it was not maintained properly. The bathroom was also dirty and untidy. To top it off, the breakfast served was terrible. None of my family members could eat anything from the plate. We paid around 700/- extra for breakfast for two rooms, which was a complete waste of money. After complaining at the reception about the untidiness of the rooms, the absence of an AC remote, the noise, and the breakfast, the staff was very unresponsive and had a terrible attitude. They did not take any action to resolve the issues and instead, blamed the kitchen guy. We asked for coffee, but nobody cared enough to provide it, and we waited for 15 minutes before leaving the place. Finally, at the reception, the staff said they knew we would give a negative rating on Google. I would advise everyone not to be fooled by the price, free breakfast, location or reviews. This hotel is very disappointing, and it is not the place to stay with family, especially if you are planning for a vacation.

This by far has been the worst place I have stayed in Chennai... 1. The rooms were/are not maintained well, there were cockroaches, mosquitos and rats. 2. The room floors were sticky. 3. Flushes were either broken or very leaky. 4. Bathroom floors were super slippery. 5. Loud music played at their Bar located in their basement. 6. Power outages 7. Lack of dressing tables and mirrors (had stuck two reflective stickers in the name of mirrors) 8. One cannot wait in the lobby because it stank baaaddd and the mosquitoes, good lord the mosquitoes.

Bad place.. cockroaches there. Unclean plates and utensils. Bar open till 1 AM which will have heavy music all the time. Since this is near US Consulate and cheaper option people are being exploited. I feel Chennai hotels are super expensive if you expect some kind of freshness and modern
