I stayed at Ivanhoe House in Darjeeling with my family, and our experience was far from pleasant. Despite being advertised as a heritage property, the infrastructure was lacking. The welcome was cold, and the overall facilities were poor. To make matters worse, they charged an additional fee for lighting the furnaces they provided in our room. The food was both overpriced and of subpar quality. On top of this, the atmosphere in the house was eerie and gave us unsettling experiences. I cannot recommend this place to anyone seeking a comfortable and welcoming stay. Our stay at Ivanhoe House in Darjeeling was a disappointment from start to finish. Not only did they lack basic amenities like working electrical gadgets such as a TV and room heaters, but they also had the audacity to charge an extra fee for providing these basic necessities that should have been included in the room rate. The location of the hotel was peculiar, situated in the middle of a sloping hill, making access difficult and inconvenient. Furthermore, the absence of parking facilities added to the inconvenience. It was clear that the hotel management was more interested in nickel and diming guests than providing a comfortable stay. In light of all these shortcomings, I would strongly advise against choosing Ivanhoe House for your stay in Darjeeling.

Just stayed in the heritage house during Diwali. It was awesome experience, getting the feel of colonial era as it is maintained. Even staff are very cooperative, specially Rupam babu... Trying to accomodate as much as possible. To feel the heritage of darjeeling staying here should be in the list. And thankfully unlike the hotels situated in the mall, the car stops in front of the gate... Didn't need to carry the luggage all the way... The mall is just 5 mins scenic route walk

This hotel is centrally located in yet away from the hustle and bustle of Darjeeling. Beautifully renovated with modern equipments and charm of the old building structure. As you enter the hotel through the garden space and the direct contact with the nature brings in a sense of peace and connection with the environment. The staffs are very friendly, everything here was perfect. We had a lovely stay. Highly recommend it.

Located over at the downhill lane beside the Bhanu Bhawan Ivanhoe House is a wonderful heritage property with 7 attached bath rooms. Mind it, as this is a very old house, all the rooms are very unique in nature and completely different from each other. However the name of the rooms are very interesting and related to great personalities. From the Mall road this property is very near but you have to cover a steep path which may not be suitable for all senior citizen. However if it is a vacation then who cares the clock !! On first Floor (accessible by 20 wooden staircases) there are 3 rooms as Vivien Leigh (Deluxe Triple Room), Col Francis Younghusband (Deluxe Double Room) and Julie Christie (Triple Room) Ground floor has 3 rooms as Charles Bell (Deluxe Triple Room), George Everest (Triple Bed Room), George Mallory (Single Room) Andrew Ervine (Single Room) is another room on 1st floor which can be accessed through a different staircase beside George Everest Room. Two rooms newly renovated which are situated at the Annexe Building. Just beside Ivanhoe House. The Room names are Darjeeling & Kalimpong. They call them as Annexe Double. Sit out arrangements in the ground floor is unique (Perfect for 10-12 persons) and the Dining is also nicely decorated with 1 big table for 6 guests, 3 round tables each comprised with four chairs and a small table for 2.

Very convenient location, from the mall if one takes the left road going towards Rajbhavan then The Ivanhoe House Hotel would be the first hotel on the left, even before The Tourist Lodge. I am of course not taking Windamere into account. The new owners have brought about a great deal of welcome improvement in the overall condition of the hotel under the previous management. The rooms are well appointed with facilities like smart tv, free wifi, functional fireplace and / or room heaters. Toilets are big with attached dressing rooms and the full length mirrors will surely transport you to the time of the Raj. The seating arrangements in the front garden are excellent and should the weather demand, one can always use the seating area adjacent to the reception. The dining room is a feast for the eyes with artefacts and memorabilia belonging to the owner. The service is prompt and always with a smile. I particularly enjoyed the food, simple yet tasty. In short The Ivanhoe House Hotel is a place that makes one wish to visit Darjeeling again and again.
