La Vera Boutique Hotel

The thing about leaving reviews online about any business is that everyone has access to reading them and making a decision if they want to go ahead with their stay somewhere or if they should look elsewhere. I booked my stay here after reading the good reviews about this facility but unfortunately I didn’t have a good experience. I previously left a very honest review about our stay at La Vera and after I left a poor review my husband was contacted by the management of this facility not once, but FIVE times to delete the bad review. As a consumer that relies on reviews of others, why should I delete my HONEST review? And the fact that we were asked to delete our review made me wonder… maybe that’s why this facility has so many good reviews online, I wonder how many other people were asked to delete their negative reviews. I mentioned in my review we felt that no one tried to help us and the service was horrible - the reply from La Vera in itself goes to show they’re only out to defend themselves and will throw anyone under the bus just to make their business look better than what it is. They said my claim about the kitchen being atrocious is false and spiteful but who in their right mind that has breakfast included in their stay would opt to leave their hotel room to go elsewhere for breakfast -if there wasn’t an actual problem with what was being provided to them? On the very first day at La Vera after our check in, my husband and I went upstairs around 12pm to have brunch but what we saw wasn’t appealing or appetizing. My husband said to management we didn’t have breakfast upstairs, not that we never went upstairs. I know I’m not the only one who felt that way, since there are multiple other reviews of the kitchen being dirty. Also, I had no agenda of “defaming” La Vera for not getting a refund lol my husband and I are from New York, USA where 3000 rupees is worth absolutely nothing to us. We traveled very far for this vacation and not getting 3000 rupees back wasn’t the biggest problem but it was all of inconveniences we faced as soon as we got here that led me to write my review. La Vera’s reply says all of our concerns are “false of misplaced”.. but this in itself shows how insensitive they are and we were utterly disappointed with the customer service of this facility. Maybe in the future you can work on making sure whoever takes bookings on the phone is on the same page with the person at reception and also maybe you can learn to be more accommodating to your customers. Learn how to be better so you don’t have to ask people to delete their bad reviews and so people don’t have to leave bad reviews for you in the first place.

Overall a great place to stay considering the cost of this property. Rooms are decent in space and clean. Food is tasty (make sure you order well in advance, it takes some time to prepare the food). Staff is polite and helpful. Highly recommended to get your own vehicle as public transport network is weak in this part of Goa. Walking to beach is time consuming. Hotel can arrange third party taxi / bus service on request but overall taxi service is expensive in Goa. You can directly get in touch with the hotel for group bookings or any B2B options, the rates will be very competitive.
