I was totally scammed same as the rest of the people here. I am American and had just arrived in India. The travel agent at my hotel in Delhi told me my initial travel plans to Shimla/Manali were infeasible due to train cancellation and road closures (later I heard from a hotel operator in Shimla that they were not) and convinced me instead to pay for him to book a flight and houseboat/homestay in Srinagar with meals plus taxi pickup. He gave me the option to pay extra for a better flight and accommodation which I did. When I arrived in Srinagar I realized that I’d been ripped off. The houseboat was dilapidated, the food was poor quality, there was no wifi even though the manager of the property said there would be. Also my prepaid Airtel SIM did not work in Srinagar, you need a postpaid SIM. So I had no access to phone or internet and was essentially trapped. The houseboat manager and his employees continually pushed me to purchase overpriced tour packages. Just high pressure sales tactics and lying for hours. When I messaged the travel agent to complain he ghosted me, no response. Clearly the manager of the company in Srinagar has a deal with Delhi travel agencies to direct business his way, with very inflated prices for everything.

Big scammer. Don`t book anything with Faisal Khankashi; He will force you to make a deal in his isolated houseboat, and then won't provide you any of the promises he made. He is completely unprofessional and has no business sense, only trying to squeeze as much money out of each guest as possible. Overcharges and under delivers. He has a big net of travel agencies in Delhi sending people to his scammer houseboat.

Do not trust the owner. He will try to sell you travel/trekking/accommodation at vastly inflated prices. This happened to many of his guests, and with many wasting 100dreds of euros. He will lie to you to achieve this. E.g he told me that the bus from Srinagar to Leh was 2500 rupees, when it costs around 900 rupees. Because the houseboat is about 9 km away from the center of Srinagar it is difficult for a guest to check out other options. And because he says there is no internet on the houseboat (although I found out there is) it is hard to verify what he says.

I wouldnt go back there ever! Scamers, I purchased in Delhi las summer, in a tourist office some art courses and accomodation in kashimire in Majestic houseboat for a month, in the end was a ripp off and a lie.. Had my clases undone, allways excuses,had to go to the authorities in the end to put in a claim. very bad experience! Felt stollen and somehow kidnap , Don't trust anyone in Delhi sending you anywhere! You can make your travell secure by yourself..be carefull trusting any taxi in Delhi( check in internet rewievs about this problema in Delhi, people wants to help you to go here and there, but be aware, they are profesionals Make clear business, if you are thinking in to purchase a travelpack or activity ( make sure the travel agency is legal first before you give any money.) My honest advice.

We got there through a SCAM from Delhi and they didn't let us go wiithout paying them more for services we didn't want. They lied to us telling us that they had wifi, they lied to us telling us that there was no way to move around except with their taxi, and they also said their boat was centric (it's like an hour and a half from the centre by foot). Otherwise the boat is really nice, the views are good and the food is ok. Avoid them.
