But what is the history behind the Fort What makes it standing tall amidst the desert Whats the story behind this magnificent architecture Let these gusty winds take us back into time revealing how Sanchal Fort was born. Barmer was founded by Bahada Rao, popularly known as Bar Rao who was a Parmar Ruler, his son Chad Rao ruled Kiradu which was a prominent town then. Chah Rao had two sons, Sodha Sankhala he also had a daughter named Sanchiya who became Sati is now worshipped as diety at Kiradu Temples, Osian (near Jodhpur) in Amarkot (present day Pakistan). On the blessings of Sanchiya Devi, Sodha later established Amarkot as his kingdom went on to rule the Sindh province of Thar and his descents are now called Sodha. The sodha ruled across the entire Sindh Province the Thar that included parts both from present day India Pakistan. The story of the protection and assistance extended by the Amarkot Ranas to the Mughal Emperor Humayun when he was escaping the Afghan usurper Sher Shah Suri is legendary and it became the birthplace of Akbar, future Emperor of Delhi. Centuries later Jagirdars from Chacharo Pakistan, a principle Thikana of Amarkot migrated to India due to India Pakistan war in 1971 settled down across the border in Barmer. Sanchal Fort its hospitality are recreated history and it derives its name Sanchal Fort from the very blessing that Sodha had got from his Sati sister Sanchiya Devi. The Sodha family from Chacharo Recreated the Desert Fort transformed the era that once existed when the Sodhas ruled across the Thar Sindh provinces. Leaving their ancestral land nobility behind, the Sodhas established themselves a new fort in the desert of Barmer that spells age old opulence lavishness that once belonged to them miles away now in Pakistan. The marvelous architecture, period furniture and ethnic decor recalls a historic time. Each sight of the fort seems to have staged a story now lost in the wraps of time. The imposing structure, high fresco painted ceilings, majestic arches, intricately carved pillars pavilions, and the beautiful domes of the fort have all recreated the charm of the bygone era, faithfully preserving the rich Rajput architecture.
