Location is perfect. Car park behind hotel is really handy. Hotel, room and staff very nice. Lovely dining room and bar. Corridors have fabulous creaks as you walk through them adding to the olde hotel feel. Bit noisy at 8am as the bins were being emptied and the sash windows are not double glazed. There was an overpowering smell of fish in bar restaurant area after dinner( fish not fresh? No extractor fan in kitchen?) Love fish but it shouldn’t smell like that! Breakfast served well just let down by small scrambled eggs portion and not scrambled enough(white and yellow not mixed enough) and the mushrooms placed on the same piece of toast as the eggs! And the other scrambled eggs had the smoked salmon placed under the eggs! Coffee was terribly weak perhaps only one scoop in a large pot.

This was our third visit to The Angel Hotel and once again met all expectations. We bring our Labrador who is well catered for with a free toy and treats from staff, as indeed we are. The hotel location is superb with very convenient valet parking. The service is excellent. Breakfast each morning next to the roaring fire with our dog is very relaxing. Selection for breakfast is superb and plentiful. We had an evening meal in the lounge on one occasion which was also extremely tasty. Staying at The Angel allows us to visit friends who live nearby whilst experiencing some luxury plus enjoying the delights of Bury. We will be back.

From the moment we walked into this beautiful hotel, we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes. The entrance lobby was a spectacular sight. After being seated in the bar area and ordering drinks myself and my date decided to see if there was a table spare which they accommodated us with a wonderful table. I have personally been in hospitality for 24 years and the service that we received tonight was by far first class. Every member of staff was polite, helpful and treated us perfectly. We both decided to go for the fish and chip as my date is gluten free and I am dairy free. The staff were more than happy to make our dining experience amazing. The food was fantastic and as a chef myself the food that was being served in the restaurant was outstanding. Beautifully presented and looked delicious. The atmosphere tonight was amazing too. So many people all having a great time and enjoying the excellent food and service that was provided by these outstanding staff. Everyone that was working tonight a massive thank you and we both will be returning very soon.

Amazing place with rich history and really nice restaurant, food is freshly made, very stylish and so delicious. Good selection of starters and mains and very delicious desserts. The drink menu has good selection too. Went there for birthday celebration and it as so nice to receive hand written card and lovely happy birthday desert. I went with my BF and family and it was so nice. I enjoyed our starters and I had very nice plaice and massive ravioli, and dessert was amazing too.

We recently stayed for 3 nights at the Angel Hotel over Christmas, marking our 4th consecutive Christmas visit. Unfortunately, this year's experience was markedly disappointing. A major letdown was discovering that our preferred rooms had undergone renovations and were no longer dog-friendly, leading us to be assigned to room 114, situated in a less desirable part of the hotel. The room's cleanliness was well below par and desperately cried out for refurbishment. Specifically, the bathroom floor presented a significant slipping hazard, amounting to a serious health and safety concern. However, it wasn't all bleak. The hotel's communal areas retained their charm, offering a delightful ambiance. Moreover, the quality of food and service remained impressive, living up to the hotel's reputation. The location continued to be a standout feature, conveniently located across from the cathedral, which allowed us to attend the Christmas service as per our tradition. Despite these positives, the overall neglect for returning customers, especially considering the steep price of £350 per night, was disheartening. The culmination of these issues prompted us to cut our stay short, leaving a day earlier than planned. Given this experience, I am hesitant to rebook for the next year and will thoroughly reconsider our options. The Angel Hotel has much to offer, but it needs to address these significant shortcomings to ensure loyal customers feel valued and satisfied.
