We’re a family with a five year old daughter and stayed here for 8 nights (Diwali week). The direct booking process from Germany was uncomplicated and cheaper than on the usual booking platforms, don’t hesitate to call the hotel phone number if there is a problem with the website or the payment. We even got upgraded to the King’s room which offered a fantastic view of Darjeeling and the mountains. The panorama terrace was just outside the room for an even better view. We were so lucky that we could see Kangchenjunga for all 8 days. The hotel, its rooms and its facilities were very clean. The restaurant team and the general hotel staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Daily breakfast was great. Good variety of dishes offered on buffet and small special requests were fulfilled as well. Location of the hotel is great! Everything you want to visit is in walkable distance. We can highly recommend Hotel Viceroy!

Pros: 1. Excellent Location: Close proximity to Mall Road. 2. Room Views: Rooms 301 and 305 had a great view of Kanchenjunga. 3. Sun Deck Experience: Enjoying hot tea on the Sun Deck with a view of Kanchenjunga. 4. Restaurant Manager: Arindam Sen is an excellent host, and he really takes care of his guests quite well, making them feel important. He pampers his guests with good old Hindi movie songs and very tasty food. Special kudos to Arindam; he is an exceptional person and hotelier. The overall experience of staying in this hotel is memorable." 5. Memorable Overall Experience: The stay was deemed memorable, largely due to the positive aspects mentioned above. Cons: 1. Elevator Accessibility: Elevator accessible only from the first floor, requiring climbing 50 steps to reach it. The manual elevator sometimes doesn't close properly. 2. Heating: Lack of central heating; small room heaters were considered inadequate. Additional Comments: 1. Recognition for Arindam Sen: The exceptional service provided by Arindam Sen was highlighted, emphasizing his caring and attentive nature. 2. Balancing Pros and Cons: Every place has its pros and cons but I should emphasize that exceptional individuals like Arindam Sen make the positive aspects more memorable, helping to overlook the drawbacks.

I visited hotel Viceroy and stayed for 2 nights in Dec. This hotel is very good overall and gives you a sense of British elites. The rooms are adequate, heaters provided and bathroom water is steaming hot for the weather. The best part of the hotel is its Kitchen where duty manager Mr Arindem Sen runs the show. He is very friendly, a perfectionist and innovator. He induces new varieties of food - you should ask whats a must try today and the food feels homely (we were tired of paneer and chicken and pleasantly surprised when bhindi was served for dinner). We had a great stay, the location of hotel is perfect. There is a secret point (terrace on the top of hotel) that is open for guests to catch the mesmerising views of Mt Kanchenjunga.
