1. This is not a hotel, it is a guest house. 2. It is very noisy. Even using earplugs I could not sleep. 3. Very dirty, dust everywhere. Very small room size, in the toilet room I could not even get in. I have no idea how you can take a shower in such a compact place. Maybe just standing on the toilet. I'm not happy. No one would recommend

9 Boutique is a well located small hotel in Causeway Bay, just 3 minutes walk from Times Square and Sogo shopping centres and Causeway Bay MTR train station. I believe (personal opinion only - I didn't ask) - they have taken a concept often used by one star hotels of buying a single unit in an old, but well positioned building, and then subdivided it into several rooms with a central corridor. Where they differ from the run of the mill is that they have made it a much nicer place to stay by using modern classy decor, quality beds, mattresses, doonas and 4 pillows to make it upmarket. The final result is a tiny reception, and 6 rooms- 4 deluxe and 2 standard. They can be further subdivided into the 4 room without windows, and the 2 which do. I stayed in the last remaining room available- a standard with no window. My experience wasn't that great. It's very clean, but it's tiny, even for Hong Kong (I've stayed at many hotels- look up my reviews), having barely any standing room, either next to the bed, or in the bathroom/toilet combo, wasn't that pleasant. Combined with that is no window, so no sunlight, so no telling what time of day or night it is. They did make reasonable use of space by using a large drawer under the bed, which is where I placed my bags and clothes. Somehow, they manage to also fit a couple of drawers, an in room safe (half size but more than adequate for me), a mini fridge, sink and glass cupboards for kitchen goods like tea, and a water distilator, and LCD screen. Everything worked well. The place is always very clean, they give x2 complementary bottles of water- and the bottles are in glass, which is an addition touch of class, but in the hands of a klutz, could result in a dropped and easily broken mess -- >ok, I admit, it happened to me when I had put a bottle in the fridge to chill it, and when I opened it it tumbled out as the door ledge didn't have a high enough railing...it only happened once, ok? ;-) I have to give special kudos to Roy and Dorothy. They are pleasant, friendly, and were very responsive to any questions or requests I had. One time I requested towels from Dorothy and she looked very unhappy I hadn't been given any and quickly went to get me some. Another time I asked about dry cleaning and Roy offrered to take the clothes for me, and at the same time looked up the closest dry cleaners for me online and showed me the screen. Other things about this place- there are two lifts, but only one will go to level 5 - 1 lift goes G to level 9, the other goes Level 9 to 18 (I think). Going out, turn right to head to Times Square/Causeway Bay MTR. Almost directly outside are 2 24 hour shops- the ubiquitous 7-11, and Circle K. The Main road along Causeway Bay is Hennessy Rd- if you go across, you will encounter many restaurants. Don't just go to ones at street level. Several of those on the levels above are quite good dining! Overall, I have to rate it 3.5 based on being in a tiny windowless room where I had to do a dance around the toilet in order to have a shower for many days. But I think this is the lowest rating anyone could realistically give this hotel. If you got a deluxe room, that would be much more liveable with an extra 2-3 square metres. Even better would be what I consider the best room- 504- both a deluxe and has x2 windows. 503 has a window but is a standard size. I assume, but could be wrong, the rest are windowless deluxe. The windowless rooms, standard and deluxe, all have golden curtains and a mirror in the place of the window. If I had gotten any other room- bigger/with window/ with window and less small, then it'd be 4-4.5 stars. So for a reasonably priced nicely appointed place in a good location with friendly staff, this could fit your bill. Just be prepared for small space.
