Adina Apartment Hotel Hamburg Speicherstadt

We booked a two bedroom suite for a 3 night stay in Hamburg. The suite had pretty much a full compact kitchen: full size fridge, small dishwasher, washing machine, sink, hob. Each bedroom had its own en-suite with shower over the bath (bathrooms are a bit dated). The living area looked slightly corporate, but was comfortable enough and quite spacious. Each bedroom room and the lounge had a TV, but unfortunately there were no integral apps that we are used to on smart TVs. There was a Miracast screen share option, that you could pair with your smart phone, but after two days of two very tech savvy people trying to get it to work and having downloaded multiple Miracast apps, with and without subscription fees - we gave up. Although it wasn’t the end of the world it doesn’t feel too much to ask that a hotel as modern as the Adina, should have an apps provision on its TVs, so that guests can easily log on to their Netflix, Apple TV etc. Overall the stay at the Adina was good and we would go back again as it was so very central. The downsides were the front desk staff who were friendly but pretty useless. We asked about a car and driver for a trip out of town or a cab - we were told ‘it will be very expensive’. On enquiring how expensive, the answer was ‘I don’t know’. We asked if they could find out. We were told ‘€38 to wait for an hour’. When asking but how much to get there and back, the answer was ‘I didn’t ask. Do you want me to?’. We were told about car sharing apps but none, understandably, took non-resident drivers. We decided to hire a car, we were given information of a local Sixt rental. That particular office was closed on the weekend. We made our own enquiries to one in the train station. Sunday a lot (but not all) of Hamburg is closed all day, including the Adina bar and restaurant. When we asked about any local restaurants that might be open - they suggested we buy one of their frozen pizzas and cook it in our room. For 2 of our 3 day stay, 2 of the 3 lifts were out of order - meaning a long wait for the one working lift to get back and forth to our 7th floor room. The buffet breakfast was ok. But you need to get there first thing or there is no milk in the coffee machine, no cereal bowls, no knives, no orange juice. These things are periodically replenished, but it makes the breakfast experience quite tiresome when you’re waiting for a bowl and then a knife and then some milk and then a tea spoon etc. The bar area is small but very welcoming for a hotel bar. The bar staff were very good, efficient, friendly, welcoming. It was a good weekend in Hamburg and we would stay at the Adina again but next time we wouldn’t bother the desk staff with anything and we’d bring HDMI cables!

I stayed at the Adina hotel and was disappointed by their reception and the quality of the hotel. Our reservation was for 15:00, but they did not prepare the room in advance. This resulted in a wasted hour, as we were given the room at 16:00 without any explanation. We had also requested a baby bed in advance, but it wasn't provided in the room. It took more than 3 hours to sort out this issue. It was quite inconvenient, especially since we had a 7-month-old baby with us who needed a peaceful rest. The experience was disappointing. The reception was poor and unwelcoming. Additionally, the room was nicely set up, but the design was quite subpar, especially in the bedroom. The bathroom had a door that opened directly into the bedroom, which meant that our heads were uncomfortably close to the toilet while sleeping. Overall, it was a very unsatisfactory hotel experience, and I would not recommend it at all.
