Adorno Oia

It was very enjoyable at this lodging. The free breakfast (table service) was a nice feature. Each room has a small outdoor hot tub. The pool area offers a view of the caldera during sunset. There is a bit of road noise though since it’s next to a busy road. If you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. It didn’t bother me too much. The 5-10 minute walk to Oia was also a nice feature and since it’s away from the Oia proper, the price per night was much more reasonable. Parking is available for those with rental cars.

We unfortunately didn't have a great experience, but there were a few redeeming points. Breakfast is served late, not until 8:30 a.m., so anyone with morning reservations or plans where they need to be somewhere by 9 o'clock can't eat. You can special request breakfast earlier, but the reception office closes so early that if you come back from your touring too late, you miss your chance to request it. The bar area blares bad music all day, but then the bar closes at 5 p.m.! The rooms are NOT soundproof and you can hear traffic as well as the bar music and people talking in their rooms -- and even just the jets in the hot tub next door. The doors don't lock automatically when you are inside your room -- you have to use the key. Totally unsafe! If there is a fire or some other sort of emergency, you have to struggle with the keys to get out (if you remember to leave them in the lock, otherwise you would have to find them first). There is also an emergency exit sign above the door that stays lit all night, and the window above the door doesn't have a shutter, so there is literally light inside the room 24 hours per day. There are all kinds of other problems, too. No hand soap (had to use the one labelled face soap) or soap dish (and they are raised sinks so no putting the soap on the edge), no floor towels for the bathroom even though water goes everywhere, no in-room coffee / tea service, no sheet on the bed (just a comforter)... And WORST OF ALL, the hot tubs are COLD! They refuse to heat them higher than 30 degrees Celsius / 85 degrees Farenheit! That is a heated pool, not a hot tub!! And they don't put insulated covers on them!! Lastly, the breakfast / bar staff are really friendly and polite, but the receptionist Diana (Deanna?) is horribly rude! Thankfully, management acknowledged our complaints, and granted us a refund for unused nights when we decided to leave early. We were told that some of the things we complained about are being fixed (such as putting shutters on the windows and serving breakfast earlier), so there may be improvements for future guests. If you happen to be there in decent whether, the pool is absolutely beautiful. If they would serve at the bar during sunset, I'm sure guests would stay and leave for dinner later. Why pay for a sunset view when you've got a great one from your room? It would make the property so much more appealing.
