Airotel Parthenon

Stay here for the location! I needed an hotel that was within walking distance of all the major tourist sites in Athens, and Airotel Parthenon hit that sweet spot. Easy walking distance from Hadrian's Arch, Temple of Zeus, Acropolis, the Plaka neighborhood, Monastiraki flea market , Ancient Agora, and even the Panathenaic stadium.  There are lots of lovely shops and restaurants very close by and it is less than 5 minutes walk from the Acropolis metro station. Going to and from the airport was a breeze-Acropolis to Syntagma and from Syntagma directly to the airport. The staff were always very friendly and helpful, and they all speak English ( didn't get to practice the few Greek words I learned before coming!).  The hotel provides free wifi,  free buffet breakfast which was great but the only thing I didn't like was that the offerings were the same everytime. The elevator is quite unique and seems just as old as the city of Athens, but hey, it works! I was pleasantly surprised that my assigned room was a'penthouse', - the only room on the 6th floor-it has a  rooftop patio and views of the Parthenon.  My only complaint about the room was that it felt a bit drafty ( it was November, some days  were cold) and the hotel ventilation system is located right next to the room so there was a constant humming sound which I got used to after a while. Also, the elevator only gets to the 5th floor so I had to walk up the stairs to get to my room but it was not a big deal for me. The TV was disappointing as there were only local Greek stations, but who comes to Athens to watch TV? The hotel is rated a 4 star hotel but I would say it's more of a 3 star hotel. There is no gym, swimming pool, or restaurant, though the hotel partners with other restaurants to have food ordered and delivered to you. All in all, I enjoyed my stay in this hotel and on my next visit to  Athens won't mind staying here again.

Fabulous location and our stay was great. We felt very comfortable. Close walk to Acropolis and restaurants. We cannot believe how helpful Yannis and his staff were as we had picked up the wrong luggage from the Port after our cruise. He went above and beyond to locate where it was successfully. We will always recommend this hotel to anyone we know who is coming to Athens. We will highly recommend to our travel agent to keep sending travellers to this hotel.
