Decent, spacious hotel room for the money we paid. As many reviewers have said - great location if you need to get a train, poor location if you want to get to Chiang Mai's major attractions (use the Maxim app and not Grab Car for cheap taxi rides) We stayed here for four nights but looked elsewhere for breakfast after the first morning (you can draw your own conclusions) The shower wasn't the hottest but the wifi was good. Very good quality bedding meant a comfortable night's sleep. Hotel pool doesn't get any sun so water was a bit nippy to say the least. Staff were very efficient. Would I stay here again? Probably not. Even if I had a train to catch, I think it's best to be closer to central Chiang Mai. But that's just a personal opinion.

I had a terrible experience here. Customer service is non-existent. They made me wait an hour and a half to get to my room. There was no AC in the waiting area. It was super hot, and it felt like torture. I mentioned that I had a train the next morning, and I'll be checking out 4-5 hours early, yet they would not let me check in an hour early. Lots of rooms were available, yet none available for me. The hotel has no restaurant open at that time, and nothing too close either. The only positive is the location near the train station. It is too expensive for the absolute worst service. Also, note the following- No complimentary coffee. Even hotels 20 to 40% cheaper are able to provide instant coffee at least. There are no kettles in the room. Even hotels 20 to 40% cheaper are able to provide it. Wifi was not able to use on laptop, one staff member did try his best to help. The staff would not let me talk to the owner or the management. Clearly, the staff are being trained poorly, and hence the terrible lack of service.

Good for a short stay or transit, walking distance to chiang mai train station. Big basic room, clean and value for money Though situated out of town area, felt safe because have security door at night before access to hotel rooms. Just a technical issue on charging points away from bed for king bed bedroom; not convenient

"At the Train" is a modern budget hotel, located only 5min walk from Chiang Mai train station which makes it a perfect choice for those planning to travel to and from the city via train. Rooms: Very clean, functional and nicely decorated, going beyond the expectations you would have for their price range. Bedsheets, mattress and furniture is all new. The hotel also offers a nice swimming pool and a cafe shop within the hotel with enough space to relax and work outside one's room. Experience: Staff is friendly and helpful accommodating guest's requests. The old town is only 10m by car from the hotel. Beautiful to visit, but good idea to sleep outside of it, as it gets overly crowded with people and traffic jam just outside the city walls. Suggestion: -Book your trip to/from Chiang Mai via the official website and book your stay "At The Train" on your arrival or departure -Minibus Station (Chiang Mai Arcade) is also very close, and you can depart from there to other popular destinations like Pai and Mae Hong Son -For food, go to Khao Soi Pa La one of the best Khao Soi in North Thailand.
