Strategic on the river overlooking the royal palace and the temple area, in the evening the panoramic bar is a great place to relax and take pictures, a little expensive as prices for quality. From this trip you can move comfortably to go by taxi to chatuchak market 130 bht, go to the royal palace by ferry 35 bht, or to the temple also on foot

We booked the top end villa Jahn room for this vacation as it was an occasion for us. The room is stunning and is in fact a studio with a kitchen, washer, dryer, etc. The bathtub on the balcony overlooking the river was also perfect, and the location is great - surrounded by nice cafes and eateries. The in house restaurant of this property is right next to the room we were in, and we enjoyed sitting in the tub in the evening, listening to live music from next door and watching the boats passing by. My one complaint here would be the staff attitude. Nobody was rude, to be fair. But nobody was warm or welcoming either. From the moment we walked in, we were 'double-checked' - have we paid? (yes we had paid in advance). Every time we asked for anything from a bottle of water to some soap, we were informed of extra charges - I can understand these and have no problem, but every time we were informed, the tone was of disbelief, as if we had to convince the staff that yes, we would indeed make all the payments we needed to. I couldn't help but feel this is because my partner and I are brown. So while part of me feels discriminated against, the other part also understands that they might have had bad experiences before, and after all, nobody was overtly rude. I guess that is just the state of the world we live in now? All in all, I would recommend this place but would likely not go back myself.

This might have been a great and mighty spot way back when, but nowadays it feels like an empty husk of its former glory. It's all there, right on the river, bars on the top and a restaurant on the second, but when I was there, it was empty. I was the only one having breakfast watching the boats go by. Maybe its the difficulty reaching the place turns off repeat customers, a lengthy drive over the bridge only to get dropped off the main road and request for a tuk tuk. The charm of it placed in Wang Lang is also it's achille's heel, in the hustle and bustle of a market but nigh make it impossible to access. If I was carrying minimal luggage I'd attempt crossing the river with my stuff in tow, but you know how it is with shopping in Bangkok.

Great place to stay at. Wonderful views from the 5th floor rooftop bar and restaurant, especially at night when the riverbank is ablaze with lights. Its lovely walking through the local market of Wang Lang, food choices are incredible. Very close to the piers for the river taxis across and along the river. A short walk to many important sights, grand palace, temple of dawn etc. The information booklet given in the room is really useful and a lovely touch. We stayed in a superior room.
