Hands down, a unique and charming stay that's great value for money! It's stated on Google as a 2-star accommodation, so don't expect fancy amenities and facilities (it's also a guesthouse, not a hotel) - there weren't things like a hairdryer or refrigerator, the power socket was far from the bed, and you don't get blackout curtains. Sound isolation isn't great either, but that's common to many Thai accommodations. But it was clean, the air-conditioning and hot water worked well, and overall I had a good time. Its greatest charm is being situated literally by the Ping river, with a common patio outside your room and a yard beyond that with chairs and tables to lounge around. (As a function of being near nature, there was the occasional bug, but nothing that I found intolerable, as someone who dislikes living with bugs.) I was there during the Loy Krathong festival and was able to release my own Krathong from the guesthouse instead of crowding with the rest of the tourists, and could watch the krathongs float by along with the sky lanterns being released. It's a short walk to Narawat bridge too if you wish to join in the festivities. (Didn't sleep much those nights though, loud firecrackers were going off into the wee hours of the morning.) A quiet location off the city center, but not too far from the airport and other city attractions by vehicular transport. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe. พี่โอ is a friendly host who speaks good English. (He also has three adorable small dogs that roam around the guesthouse in the day.)

Ban Narai still remains the coolest place I’ve stayed in after traveling Thailand/Vietnam for 5 weeks. Even though the location is a little far it’s absolutely worth it, coming back to your calm riverside digs after a busy day exploring was such a lovely experience. What could be better than a smoke and beer, lying in a hammock by a river? O and his team are laid back, super friendly and helpful, seriously would love to come back and stay for a week as the other places we stayed in Chiang Mai did not live up to expectations. And not to forget his 2 little dogs which were the highlight of our stay😆

This place is amazing! The staff/owners are really sweet and the location is perfect for exploring the city, or just relaxing by the river. The room we stayed in had cool retro details like a vintage radio and funky cat clock. We loved the peaceful setting, plus the little bar they have is really convenient. We will definitely stay there again next time we visit Chiang Mai!
