Best Western Hotel Journel Antibes-Juan-les-Pins

I had a great room, good bed and shower, although with the weird European habit of having an open shower stall which gets the washroom all wet. It is a bit far from the main tourist area in Antibes.

Avoid the taxi scam! When ordering a taxi from reception in the hotel to get us back to Antibes train station after check out, we made a special request for a taxi who would be ok with us bringing our small dog. Reception didn't mention a price or any surcharge for the dog, but we already did the journey from the station to the hotel when we arrived and it cost just 10 euros (his meter showed 8, but he rounded up to 10, presumably a small pet surcharge.) To our surprise, the driver summoned by the hotel demanded 35 euros once we arrived at the station, which we immediately queried as being incorrect. He got very angry and told us it's a fixed price, that we had a dog, that our 10 euro we paid last time was impossible and we were liars. He called somebody (maybe a boss?) who explained to us On speaker phone this is the price and that it is set by the hotel. We travelled 1mile (1.3km) in 15mins, which included the time taken to challenge the price, for him to call his boss to back him up, call the hotel and have them state the price should be no more than 25 (we find out the extra 10 is a dog fee the driver added!)) and for him to leave the station with us still in the car, telling us we are going to the police station, for us to finally agree on 30 euros before he returned us to the station. The journey we took when we arrived cost 10 euros and was in a new Tesla with a friendly English speaking man, it was metered (not an Uber!) and was 7mins, our dog sat quietly in the footwell as requested by the driver. The hotel taxi was a modern VW car, not a limo, there was no meter, the dog sat quietly on my girlfriend's lap and made no noise and didn't touch the seats or floor at any time. My suggestion to Best Western is at minimum to give guests a price estimate when ordering a cab for them to avoid this shock in future. Hopefully other guests will see this and make sure they ask for a price first and shop around if possible.
