Best Western Plus University Park Inn & Suites

I only stayed one night. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are well appointed, the font desk is super friendly. Breakfast was what you expect, it was good. The mattress and the pillows could both be a little better, but they weren't awful. The issue with this hotel is that sound transmits through it awfully. You can hear every conversation and door closing on the hall like it's right next to you. If you're near the patio tables outside, you can hear their whole conversation. Whoever was above me decided they needed to stomp laps around their room from 3am to 6am, and I could every time they spoke or blew their nose. Unfortunately this means I wouldn't really recommend this hotel unless you can ask to stay on the top floor. It's not bad, and if you're a heavy sleeper it's probably fine. I'm not, though, so I was left very tired and annoyed.

I see other people found this hotel clean, and I'm glad they had that experience, but it wasn't my experience. This is long, notes on cleanliness are at the end. I chose this hotel because the price was ok and moreso because the location was ideal. I've actually stayed here before, and this review compounds these two experiences. The first time we stayed there was a sewer gas smell coming up from the drains in the bathroom. We figured out we could block it with a wet washcloth over the drains. This time when I arrived, I was staying longer, and they put me up on the 4th floor, which was nice and it was suggested it would be quieter. It turns out they were having a serious HVAC problem and the room was nearer their HVAC units. There was the LOUDEST oscillating mechanical noise. You could hear it the second you atepped off the elevator and all the way down the hall to the room. Like there was no sleeping in that room. I went back down to ask to be moved. Now, please note that the front desk was unfailingly friendly and responsive. She was great. She did recommend moving me one floor down from the same room. I told her I didn't think that would be better. I don't blame her though it seemed like thay had little other availability. I asked if I could have a room on the other side of the building. She said there was only one and it was on the floor that was mainly affected by the HVAC problem. I said there was no way to sleep in those other rooms so I'd have to take it. Even though the hallway was flooded with heat from the malfunctioning HVAC, the room had A/C so it worked out. It wasn't particularly clean though. There was a random unwrapped gummy on the counter with the coffeemaker. The towels had stains. The grout in the shower looked moldy. The laminated sheet with the TV channels was...sticky. And this was just what you could see. I stayed 4 days and asked for housekeeping once. I did mention the candy on the counter. When I came back in the evening, it was still there, but it had moved slightly. Someone had wiped the counter I guess. Also the mini fridge wasn't cold enough and I didn't find out until the morning when I had to toss my sandwich stuff because I wasn't sure it was safe. Breakfast was fine. I liked the coffee, the bed was comfortable. I won't stay here again though.
