I love staying here. Compared to other Canad locations…this one is managed and staffed properly. While needing updates, everything about this hotel does not disappoint. I would stay here again. I did however recently have a negative experience at this hotel with checking in and out (why I gave 3 stars for service). I paid with visa-debit at check in, and the hotel made a mistake when they took my payment. Long story short, they placed a hold on my debit instead of taking a payment…then stated I had to wait 4-6 days for my money to be returned to me, and then made me pay a 2nd time for the room at check out. That meant that for 4-6 days I was going to be out 350$ I didn’t expect to have spent. When speaking on the phone to staff, they admitted that the person who checked me in made the mistake of placing a hold vs charging me, and they admitted the person on Saturday morning was new and didn’t know how to deal with the situation. When dealing with peoples actual money (not credit) this hotel needs to take greater care. I have a strict budget, and having temporary lost 350$ due to this mistake had negative financial consequences. * at the time of this review…it’s day 6, money still not returned

We booked a theme room to celebrate my son's birthday. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff was very friendly. The room was a massive disappointment though. It smelt like stale smoke and floral cleaner to hide the smoke smell. The windows hadn't been cleaned on the outside in ages and were dingy, that coupled with the low lighting in the theme room it felt very dingy. The room was clean but very old. Calling the bed linens "luxury" was a stretch. The baseboard heater in the bunk room was broken. The elevator was also broken, and our room was beside the stairwell. We could hear the door opening and closing till about 2 am. We intended to stay two nights but based on the quality of the room and the closing door issue, we cut our trip short. I have tried to contact the hotel on four occasions to receive a refund for our stay and the front desk clerk is always very polite and promises her manager will call me and they never do. I will never stay here again. (AFTER I POSTED THIS REVIEW I WAS CONTACTED BY THE VP OF OPERATIONS AND HE CORRECTED THE SITUATION FOR ME. I APPRECIATE THAT CANAD INNS WAS WILLING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT.)

Rooms were dated but fine. Beds comfortable. Service was poor. Our room’s neighbour was smoking for several hours leaving a terrible smell in our room and on the floor. We called to complain and a security officer did a lap of the hall and left, taking no action. When leaving, we called the front desk three hours in advance to book a van taxi. Ten minutes prior to the booking they notified us that we couldn’t book a van. This made for a very pressured scramble to find a last minute ride to the airport. I expressed my discontent with the service and they made no apology and showed no concern. We will never stay here again.

My my husband and our two sons (2 and 4) and I stayed here for two days. Very friendly girl checked us in at the front desk. The pool was absolutely freezing. My two year old could not go in the wading pool, he was shaking too badly. My four year old would do the waterslide then run to the hot tub. He couldn’t swim without shivering. We asked the pool guy to turn the heat up and he said it wasn’t cold… every patron we saw enter the pool while we were there, got too cold and just went in the hot tub. It was a very busy hot tub. We had the titanic theme room which was dated, but really great for families and my kids loved the theme. The room is huge and the beds and everything was clean. Unfortunately, it’s located next to the stairs and the patrons were very, very loud at all hours of the night, even though we were there a Wednesday/Thursday. We also had a very rude lady yell at my four year old for “walking in the hall too loudly” at 11am. I don’t think the building is very well insulated. Drafty, and quite loud. If the pool was warmer, it would’ve made a huge difference for our trip because my kids were really looking forward to using it without having to warm up. We didn’t spend near as much time in the pool as we’d hoped because of the temperature. Overall, good hotel for the price, good location and nice front desk staff, just a few rude patrons and a very cold pool.

My family and I stayed in this hotel for our annual Halloween fun night for the kids. The waterslide and pool are fantastic; however in the morning we were unable to go swimming because they were treating the pool with chlorine (it was a Sunday which seems like poor planning). This was frustrating as it was our primary reason for choosing this hotel. I brought it to the attention of the staff and they stated that a manager would be in contact with me; I never heard from anyone. The rooms are quite boring but functional and seemed clean with fresh linens. The TVs are small and there is no freezer in the fridge to store frozen food like ice cream. The hotel overall feels quite dated and may be in need of an update, but if you want an affordable hotel with a decent pool and giant water slide then this might be the place for you, as long as the pool isn't closed.
