First time in Shanghai and China, the hotel staff made us welcome, although some struggle with English but they made an effort to help or direct us to a colleague that speaks English. The rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed here since it is not that far away from the stadium that hosts the Shanghai Masters Tennis tournament. It has a play area for kids in the lobby which my kid had fun playing.

4.5/5. Spent 7 weeks here. Breakfast is great, hotel is newish and clean. Staff are friendly (some girls at front desk are a bit rude). Next to a few restaurants. Often smell cigarettes from hall (not hotels fault..). Room cleaning sometimes forgets to check shampoo/shower bottles. They keep gym at 24 or 25c, I usually turn it down to 22 before running

The hotel is located approx. 1 hour by car from Pudong international airport. While the location provides convenient accessibility if you are visiting offices in the area, there is little to do or even food to eat after the sun goes down. The room is spacious and clean except that, there was a weird sound of (a) cricket starting in the middle of the night. If I had not been dead tired from my travels earlier in the day, I might have requested for some checks or change of room. Overall, it was an otherwise fuss-free stay. I would stay at this location (but request for a non-corner room) when I next visit the area.

I stayed at this Courtyard while visiting Shanghai and my Alma Mater’s new campus, only 10 minute walking distance from the hotel. It is a good bargain for using points for stay. Highly recommended! In general, the new Courtyard hotels in China are much much better than the ones in the US, sometimes even better than the Marriott hotels with brand new executive lounge and very nice breakfast option and evening snacks. Cheers!
