Days Inn by Wyndham Washington DC/Connecticut Avenue

Don't. Just don't! I need to start by saying that we had no involvement in selecting this hotel. We were in town for a conference, and this was recommended as being closest to the meeting venues. After we found the hotel (there is no exterior signage), and checked in (a slightly unpleasant experience), we went to find our room. As we walked down the corridor to our room, I commented to my partner, "I don't think we'll be murdered. Perhaps injured. We'll probably get bedbugs, and the car will probably be broken into."). And we hadn't seen the room yet. There were two "not quite doubles", so we slept in separate beds for the first time ever. I took the one closest to the window since he's a lighter sleeper than I. Luckily, the street is relatively quiet, as the window closest to the bed was open about an inch and wouldn't close. We found out later that several other attendees had immediate allergic reactions and wound up checking right back out and going to another hotel. In hindsight, I wish we had too. Want more room details? - The smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling and wrapped in a plastic bag. - There was what appeared to be black mold in the bathroom vent. - Along the floor and bathroom door there was a strange combination of mold/rust. - The paint on the hinges of the bathroom door appeared to contain hair. - The majority of the TV channels were age locked, so our options were Disney, ABC and home shopping channels. - If you let the water run for several minutes, you "might" get a warm shower. The water pressure was similar to a water pistol. A few other highlights: - When a local restaurant server found out where we were staying, her response was "Oh, I'm soo sorry". - A staff member at one on the conference venues (who lives in the neighborhood) expressed shock that we were staying at "the murder hotel" and said that police activity is a regular occurrence. And despite what it says on their website, there is no Italian restaurant on site (or any restaurant). There is no daily breakfast. And the $25/day parking is for a lot that is questionable at best. For the record, we survived our stay, and the car wasn't broken into, but the bedbug jury is still out. Trust me....just DON'T.

This is an interesting review I will make. I wanted something low-cost and in a good DC location near the metro and didn't need to spend a lot of time in the hotel and was on business. GREAT HOTEL for that!!! If I was a couple touring...YES! A young business lady?? NO. Not fully secure and safe and not incredible room but...the BED was comfy as all get up. Shower GREAT. Counter peep nice and work hard. I will always stay there when I go. When I take kids to to tour, I will not do it again. One more thing, be sure you have a great HOT SPOT, the internet is not great at all. TV? Remember, in my model, you are not there much ok>>>???? Get it.
