De Malee Pool Villas

Perfect stay. Amazing staff. One of the best experience. Highly recommended. Breakfast was just outstanding. The villas are very spacious. They even provide transportation service to and from main areas.

Just stayed here for 10 days, to start with the positive, we had a fantastic stay, the staff are exemplary and do everything they can to ensure your stay is fantastic. The reception area, grounds and villas (we stayed in 102) are of a high standard although there are a few maintenance issues that need addressing. The villa was comfortable with a lovely private pool area. Frequently the waterfalls and jets (mostly these) failed to work and we kept having to ask about them, the waterfalls were then usually switched on but I think we had the jets working once in 10 days. The waterfalls need resealing as the flow went everywhere. The villa itself needs a few bits addressing, one of the blinds was frayed and one wouldn't hang correctly, the shower head broke on day 2 and was never fixed despite us asking. The AC is noisy (and not that cold on the lowest setting) and has a very annoying light that stops the room from falling into darkness completely, no idea why they need to do this with appliances. Nothing major but would be good to see these addressed. The shuttle was rarely seen so we never used it, the times were different to those displayed inside the villa anyway and the correct times weren't overly convenient, especially in the evening. Location wise it's OK, we had a car so it was never a problem, you can walk within 15 minutes to an area where there are a few street food places and restaurants but it's a dark 'street', I fell badly one night. Our main issue was with the continuing covid restrictions, no bar or breakfast buffet and no restaurant, your breakfast is served on a floating tray which is a nice novelty but given the lack of choice becomes a pain. We like a buffet so we can choose what we want to eat, we tried asking the hotel for certain things and they did so well in accommodating us but everything was cold, fried eggs that had congealed, toast that was hard and cold, no coffee other than the 2 expresso pods they 'sometimes' left in the room and only coffee mate. We just felt we were wasting food so stopped the breakfast and went elsewhere. I just can't help thinking many places are now using covid as an excuse to not return to full service, we've had breakfast buffets in many other places on this trip with no issues. Saying this they are really minor gripes and we still had a lovely stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for a holiday.
