Dhillon Hotel - Hostel

AUGUST 2023: Never changed bedsheets.. smells dirty, terrible employees, so rude… rats on the stairs, no towel include so i had to dry myself with old used bedsheet, or toilet paper or ventilator or hair dryer. The worst nightmare ever. Even the airco makes stupid anoying sounds. the worst. The worst i ever experienced. You netter pay more for your hotel or skip this one.

Location: Pros: It’s in the middle of Kowloon and right across the street from the MTR (subway) entrance/exit. Cons: It’s on the 10th floor of an old building. To get to the elevator, you have to walk for a good minute or two through a not so clean marketplace. Staff: This hotel is run by minorities. We did not have issues communicating what we need. They try to help as much as they could but they are very limited in the service they provided. Hidden Charges: Visitors are faced with a hidden deposit and admin fee upon checking in. This fee is not included with the price of the booking online. Sadly when passing through the reception area, you could overhear the staff charge a higher amount or no fee at all. When questioning it, they were unable to explain the charge. Room: The room is very small. It has a small bed. The size could be a standard for a guest house. However, Hong Kong is also known for small living spaces due to its limited land space. If you are taller than 5’5” you will have to curl to fit in the bed. My room has a little walking space beside the bed but other rooms don’t. Some guests have to leave their luggage in the hallway and just bring important things inside with them. The bathroom is very small too (barely able to fit a single person) but it has a good hot/cold shower and has pretty decent water pressure. The toilet flushes well but my specific sink has very low water pressure. (could be different in other rooms) The room was infested with roaches crawling everywhere and became increasingly worse throughout the duration of my stay. (I kept the room extremely clean) This was startling but not surprising since there is a large market place down below. The room is also made of full concrete. Due to the extremely high insulation of the room, the room would sweat (moist) from the walls down to the floor creating water leaks overtime. The only way to prevent the room from sweating, is to keep A/C on high cool. As a result, the room will stay very cold and it is hard to sleep during the night. Overall: Cost of living in Hong Kong is very expensive, so you will get what you pay for. I would not stay in this hotel again or recommend this to a friend. While I was able to manage, others may find it hard to deal with and it could taint their entire experience of Hong Kong. I hope this was helpful.
