The service was 5 star. They greet you and take your car and luggage for you followed by a tour of the facilities. The room layout was actually pretty nice but it had a bad smell like a gym locker room. Location was just okay. It is indeed right on the ocean front with a nice view, but there is not much a of a beach. You have to walk around to other areas to get a nice beach. Fair prices though and it is walking distance from all the fun in PDC. Overall a satisfactory place to stay.

Enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday week here with the family. We booked room 340 which is a 3BR penthouse with rooftop terrace, Palapa and hot tub. This is probably the nicest room on the property with a great oceanfront view. The only disappointment is the pool area and the lack of a true bar and restaurant. There’s a place that serves a great breakfast but closes early and doesn’t really have a bar. There’s only room for (4) chairs around the pool and the beach has been washed away but we found beach clubs in both directions from our place. Otherwise close to everything. Would recommend giving it a close look. We’ll be back.

Beautiful hotel in a great spot, with easy access to 5th Avenue. Staff are helpful and friendly. One star dropped due to the limited pool space (just 4 sun beds), whilst there is no beach area left due to beach erosion so you have to go elsewhere if you would like some beach time. The tables at the front (in the video) are for use by customers of the restaurant.

Have stayed here multiple times and every time it's been great. The staff are all super accommodating and the location can't be beat. El Taj is near both Ado stops and the ferry to Cozumel, making it super easy to take day trips to other nearby cities. Only downside is the erosion right now but it's a fast walk to a nearby beach club. The restaurant onsite serves better than decent food and great micheladas. The rooms are all large and decorated uniquely so it feels like you're staying in an apartment rather than in a boring hotel room. I like that the grounds of the hotel have lots of greenery, highlighting the fact that you're near the jungle. The street El Taj is on is very quiet yet near multiple convenience stores and clubs.
