First time in Montreal. Horrible Experience In the first hour of checking in. Ask to see the room BEFORE you say yes. The room smelt of mold. They changed rooms but put my one floor below. Still smelt. The refrigerators do not run cold. They told me the fridges are not meant to be cold only used for storage. They had me do a cash deposit of $100 instead of on my credit card but didn’t want to give me a receipt. I had to insist on a hand written receipt as they would not give me a print out. I wanted to cancel the second night because this is a 1* hotel and not as advertised. I was told the cancellation policy was 24 hrs but when I tried to cancel the second night I was told it was 48 hours. Called Marriott who told me this was a franchise so all they could do is make a complaint. The manager has the discretion to honour the 24hr cancellation but I have to wait until tomorrow morning to speak with him. The garage cost is $30. It’s a very very small steep underground about 500x500 with 7 small spots. My Explorer barely fit. BEWARE of this hotel. I wish I had seen the reviews before I booked. It’s not worthy of the Marriott name. Though I complained about the moldy smell, on the 10th floor, my concern was dismissed. The next day I came back to a fan drying wet carpet outside the room one floor down from the initial room they tried to give me. Clearly my senses were working correctly. I did get my deposit back on checkout. No issues there as I had the receipt.

A few of us made a reservation for this hotel through Hotwire on August 11, 2023. We were aware of the non-cancellable nature of the booking as per Hotwires policy. We contacted the hotel directly to ask if there was any way to cancel the reservation on their end so that we could avoid incurring charges. During the conversation, we explicitly communicated our willingness to proceed with the trip if cancellation was not feasible. The front desk staff assured us over the phone that she could cancel our reservation on her end without incurring charges. She subsequently said "don't rebook again because we are full". To our surprise, the transaction was posted on August 16th. We reached out to Hotwire for clarification and potential reimbursement. The Hotwire rep said she will reach out to the hotel directly to see if they would reimburse us as they were the ones that gave us the false information. We received an email on August 20 saying the hotel was refusing and will not give a refund even though we confirmed with the hotel that we would get the money back. We spent a lot of money on a single night (over 700 CAD) that we didn't even get to spend at the hotel because we were assured that we would be reimbursed. All of us are understandably very disappointed with this customer service and dishonesty.

Pros: Great location next to metro and on bus routes, and the only Marriott property close to gay village Cons: 1) After checking in we found a large stain in the bed sheets 2) elevators always stunk like sweat and barf. We were disgusted each time we stepped a foot in the elevator and covered our noses the whole ride 3) their breakfast was not good. I understand everyone has a different standard for food, but what they made with eggs and all their sausages were bad. Their pastries were stale, making us eat breakfast out every single day 4) walls are so thin you hear neighbors. And doors close heavily, so each time a neighbor was closing their door at night, we were jumping from sleep thinking someone entered our room. And worse, housekeeping would use their loud vacuums in the hallway from 8 in the morning, so if you'd like a good rest while you're on vacation, this is not the place for you 5) their king bed rooms most definitely don't have a king mattress. Our mattress was queen at most 6) when I asked for shower gel, they asked me to go to reception and get it. This is not a big deal, but you'd expect hotel staff to bring basic amenities to the room 7) way overpriced for what it is. An Inn disguised as a 3star hotel that charges more than the fancy 4star hotels just couple blocks down, at the heart of downtown. I was in Montreal for marathon and stayed at this hotel, away from my buddies, so i can be closer to gay village. What a mistake, will never go back to this place again 8) they made a billing error and charged me extra and during check out I pointed that out and they corrected it. But after a few hours they reversed it and charged me incorrectly again. 9) if you are used to bonvoy perks, expect absolutely nothing in this "hotel"

Parking was off-site but the walk to the parking is a short enjoyable 5-6 mins walk. The parking is in the underground of the library and it’s $13 per day.The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was decent. We stayed there for 4 nights and they changed few hot item’s every single day! The hotel is close to major tourist attractions and close to many restaurants. Overall experience including the customer service was worth a 5 star rating!
