I didn't stay here but I want to recommend the staff, in particular a man in reception, who went over and beyond exceptions to help me. [short story begins!] On 0500 1/1/24 I found myself tired and desperate without room and a young family. We had just come from London on a redeye and I had booked 31/12-2/1 room for a long layover. However, the hotel I booked didn't answer the door and lights were out. I found Fide hotel using google maps and though no rooms were available the receptionist first tried to help me contact my original hotel without success. As he offered coffee he directed me to another hotel and helped me negotiate a discounted rate as I did not have many Euros and no Turkish Lira. Though I did not stay here the helpfulness of the staff/receptionist will forever be remembered and I would most definitely stay here in the future.

My wife and I booked this hotel for 2 nights. When we arrived to check in, a receptionist who was a bad-tempered guy named OMAR gave us the room’s key that was the last floor without an elevator. Since my wife was pregnant I asked him to change our room but he refused unfortunately while other rooms were empty. During our stay, we witnessed his inappropriate interactions with other guests. As I travel a lot, without a doubt he was by far the worst unethical person that I have ever seen. I recommend the manager of the fide hotel to fire him as soon as possible due to his disgusting behaviors and far from the glory of hotel management.

In total, I had a good experience there. I stayed there for one night, and the reception guy was super friendly and helpful. The staff was friendly as well. They serve breakfast themselves, and it is a full plate with a little bit of everything. The rooms are very small, but they get the job done. The staircases are tiny, but they have a vintage vibe that I liked. However, I have to point out that they don't have elevators, so it might be difficult for you if you have heavy luggage. The only negative thing that I have to mention is the bad smell in the bathroom. It smelled moldy, and the toilet was not super clean. Considering the price, it was a good hotel, and it was conveniently located near Taksim Square and Istiklal Street. You could easily walk to these popular areas.

I was met by a guy on the reception - very polite and friendly. He showed me the room - very warm and there was hot water all the time, I was offered to use safe box on the reception if I needed. Location is very close to Istiklal street, metro stations and bus stops. I had known the location so I brought my earplugs and didn’t have problems with the noise from outside. But it is on a boulevard. We need to be fair. I don't complain and I don't give any advice. The hotel and furniture are very old and without renovation is impossible to have high hygiene. Very old key - I remember it form my childhood. There is a safe box in the room that doesn't work. I haven't had poorer breakfast in any hotel ever. If no renovation, hotel need maintenance - things brake sometimes. No sound isolation for inside noise - I was hearing the noise from the lobby and staircase all the time I was in the hotel. Even cheap, it is very far from what tourists expect. Everything else you can see on the pictures to decide if you want to stay in this hotel or not.
