Super dirty. The bed wasn’t even made properly. The place wasn’t mopped. The sofa in the living space had dirty covers. Super uncomfortable and unhygienic. Zero privacy, super thin curtains that didn’t even cover the window.

This place was amazing! It’s so cozy and quiet. It is far enough from the main road that you can’t hear all the noises from the road. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools you would need if you felt like cooking some dinner or breakfast. There is plenty of clean water as well. It’s also in a location surrounded by nice restaurants, bars and shops. The WiFi has also been some of the best connection I’ve had in all of Kathmandu. The woman who owns the apartment is also very lenient on check in times. We booked our stay really late at night and she called the next morning and asked when we would like to meet to exchange the key. The only reason for four stars and not five is because it doesn’t have A/C, but it does have fans and screen windows and it didn’t get too hot for mid spring. If you come in the winter she does have a heater.

4 red doors is the closest I have gotten to a real home away from home during my many years of travelling. Michael is a great host with a passion and attention to detail - he really made my wife and I feel welcome and was very helpful with everything we needed. The apartment was clean and bright - the light that falls through the large windows is simply gorgeous!! I work in IT and the internet is without the best in town - it was a joy to work at the kitchen table while enjoying some coffee. Next time I go back to Kathmandu I will definitely stay here again.
