Location of the hotel and the views from bars/restaurants on the upper floors were great. Hotel itself was very outdated and our room felt a bit damp and unclean. The ceiling leaked our first night in the room, the shower had little water pressure and the nozzle looked very dirty, there were very few usable outlets, and the bed was hard but clean. I also paid for a river view but you could only see the river if you looked out the window from a certain angle. Overall, a fine stay in China Town, but absolutely not worth the price we paid.

Pool is much smaller and dirtier/older than it seems in photos. Smoking in a lot of the rooms and while they did change rooms, they didn't provide a river view as I originally paid more for. I was fine with that but they nickle and dimed us for needing a towel - at the cost of half our room rate!

This 4-star hotel, though still good, has seen better days. While spacious - the deluxe king room anyway - the furniture is a bit dated and streaks of bygone dust are very much visible. The surprisingly small bathroom has only a bathtub and an old stained shower curtain. The door on the table, which houses the fridge, came off its hinge easily though thankfully it could be put back. And when we first checked in the TV remote had dead batteries. Clearly, there hasn't been much investment in renovations. However, the bed was clean and comfortable, so that's a big plus. Also, staff was prompt and professional - reception, concierge, restaurant - with the exception of housekeeping. Although check in was at 1 pm, it took until nearly 2 pm for us to get into our room. I think Grand China hotel has two things going for it: the location and Skyview 360 restaurant. Otherwise, it is a bit overpriced for what you get. PS: The shops on the ground and second floors looked too quiet, and many stalls are empty. But there is a DHL inside and a post office across the street - super convenient!

Massive rooms. Shower in bath and not suitable for tall people. Hotel is old and in need of an upgrade. Situated in the very vibrant China Town area. Very close to loads of attractions. Staff very helpful and friendly. We requested a wake-up call but they forgot. Restaurant on top is a must do and see. It spins to give you a 360 view of the city. Not cheap but worthwhile.
