Grand (definition) adjective 1. magnificent and imposing in appearance, size, or style. I wanted to preface that, because this place is antonymous in every meaning. The rooms have no bathrooms, there’s a communal bathroom that I would say is for the traveler who is equal parts brave and foolish. The rooms themselves look like they haven’t been maintained since they opened. There is a basin in the room, “why?” you ask, well simple, that’s so after you use the communal toilet you then walk to your room and wash your hands. Now this is specific to ourselves but we arrived early and asked to check in an hour early, they said no. And in hindsight I find that funny because they didn’t need time to clean the rooms because I dont think that’s a thing they do around here. The staff downstairs were friendly, I have no issues with them at all. Cannot stress this enough. Don’t stay here. Ignore this at your peril.

I like to start with the positives and there are a few. First of all, this location is close to all the “touristy” places if you’re a visitor to Sydney. It’s very cheap and the girls manning the bar/hotel desk are quite friendly and hot. Hotel patrons get 10% off bar prices. The not-so-good bits are, the rooms look dated and I mean 70’s dated. There’s no air conditioning just fans which wasn’t too bad tbh. It’s entry level budget when it comes to facilities. They have a manual elevator which means that you need to push two metal doors to get in and out, good luck if you’re weak, injured, or drunk. So why would someone stay there? And who would stay there? A solo budget traveller or a young couple would, it’s an upgrade to a backpackers dorm. Someone that wants to be close to the must see places in Sydney. I stayed there because I do reviews of random hotels, etc for google.

This review it’s all about the Bar downstairs. It is my favorite place when I visit Sydney. Small and cozy place. Very good service e and cheaper beer compared to many places around. Just walk away when the bossy “far bald and racist” manager is attending the bar. He gives very different service depending on the race. I have seen him several times and always the same. At the end another “powerful bartender” I don’t post pictures for respect but you will know who he is

Visited Sydney from adelaide with my family who came from overseas. We booked 2 rooms. Rooms were old smelly no air condition, full of dust not cleaned as per standard. Main thing is we didn't felt safe, our both rooms were wide open with lights on whole day till when we were back at 9.30pm since morning. We felt embarrassed in front of our parents from overseas Australiain hotel is this low with saftey issue. We complained manger but they were not aware of it, she pointed out mistake to morning cleaners. Whoever it was its not our problem our valuables were left in room trusting hotel, luckily nothing were missing but rooms were not cleaned though was as it is. Manager James offered a dinner on the house food was good though. Hats off to chef. Manager also offered refund for that night but they didn't bother to refund till now been waiting so I had to write a review. Lift is manual door may be from 16th century bit scary. Will never recommend to anyone ever. But I will recommend food there.
