Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport – where "big" is an understatement. This place is like an airport on steroids, and I mean that in the best way possible. You might need a GPS to find your gate; it's that huge. But hold up, despite its size, it's like a well-choreographed dance of efficiency. Check-in? Smooth. Security? Like a ninja – fast and efficient. You might even have time for a quick power nap before your flight. Navigating this airport is a bit like a quest, and if you're not breaking a sweat, you're doing it wrong. So, buckle up, enjoy the ride, and remember, it's not just an airport; it's a mega-adventure with a touch of Chinese efficiency and a sprinkle of humor. Safe travels, intrepid wanderer! ✈️😄🌐

The airport is clean, very nice. The immigration queue may looks very long but its actually quite fast. Just make sure already filled the arrival card. The sign system clear enough so you won't get lost.

Good, clean, and well organised. The security check for international transfers is very strict, but gives you confidence they are safe. Free hot or cold filtered water is everywhere, like it should be in ALL airports. Shops are a bit sparse, and the WiFi code machines didn't work. Flight from London was a lovely Boeng 787 Dreamliner, but no air bridge meant a long bus trip to the terminal. There are what looks like over 100 gates, but mostly domestic I presume. If you have Priority Pass lounge access, head for the China Southern lounge. You get 3 hours, hot shower, food, and comfortable seats. The other lounge is 2 hours, with no shower. If you have a transfer of 8-24 hours with China Southern, apparently you can get a free hotel room, but ask and find the right spot. Don't exit immigration with everyone else, and don't go through transfer security. I haven't tried it, but plan to on the way through next time.

Make sure you get the right terminal. T1 and T2 separated by quite a distance . Upon entering the airport, there’s a security check. If you are taking econ, make sure you arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure time. I arrived 2 hrs 10 mins earlier. After 1 st security check, airline check in 2nd security check, immigration clearance and walk to the gate, left 15 mins before boarding time! No time for me to have a meal or coffee. Of course if you are taking business class, thats a total different story. The business class check in counter usually shorter and there’s a dedicated 2nd tier security check and immigration clearance for Biz class. There’s a lot of duty free shop and local products in the check in area. Walking time to gate A149 which is at the end of the terminal takes ard 10-15mins .
