We travelled as a group of three, and this place was stunning! The rooms were traditional, the breakfast set we got with the package was so worth it, and the onsen and entertainment facilities were also relaxing and fun. The location is hard to get to so recommend knowing/securing taxi bookings to and from hotel to hakone, as buses do not come often and were at far away places. The location of the onsen is top notch and morning views from the hotel was very beautiful

If you know avaerage japan hotels' price. this is amazing price and good quality. if you are looking for open air bath. this hotel is the best. I went there when people were very less. they give you Ukata. also hotel facilities are huge. they have old building, and new building. but you can use both facilities. they have big bath, spa, foot spa, open bath in the mountain. also great massage machine which is better than 'Bodyfriends' brand. they also have comic book room, old fashion game room. swiming pool(maybe open in summer) and welcome cookie was great too. they also have restaurants and cafe provides free drinks. I loved this place. you can just spend at least one day in this hotel. and buildings are kinda old. but the mood is great. if you come with girl or boy friend or famaily. you will definitely can enjoy together I am sure.

As everyone else says, the location is a bit difficult to get to. Unless you are traveling lightly or are in good shape, I would take a taxi. I stayed alone in a room with twin beds. There was also an area for tatami so realistically 3 people could stay in 1 room. The rooms were also quite spacious compared to others I’ve been in. The bedding was soft, and the pillows were nice. I booked the hotel last minute, but the hosts were gracious enough to let me check-in. The rooms were very nice. It’s not like a modern hotel, but I find no problem with that in Hakone. I think anyone complaining about the rooms being dated needs to understand what town they are in. In my room there was a tv, air conditioning remote, and Yukata. Along with the Yukata was an onsen bag with towels for use. The onsen was amazing. The variety of the pool were really nice. I also saw, but didn’t use, massage chairs, a manga library, and a room to stretch and relax in. I’ve been in about 4 or 5 hotels in Japan, and I enjoyed my stay at this one the most.
