        The room had a balcony! A balcony in Hanoi for a reasonable price. Private bathroom, easy access to coffee shops and restaurants. The owner is lovely and helpful. There is no elevator but caused no issues for us on the 5th floor. A restaurant below was quite loud one night. It's a big city, it's alive with sounds. However, I did not hear the neighboring rooms in the hotel. The bed was comfortable, room cleaned every day. I recommend if you can do the stairs and sleep well, if there happens to be noise.

        “Overall good stay with friendly host” Welcoming host who was happy to give recommendations on arrival. Room cleaned each day and water bottles provided. Location is in the Hanoi busy area but noise not a big issue considering. Room was on the 5 floor, wasn't ideal with luggage.

        The room had a balcony! A balcony in Hanoi for a reasonable price. Private bathroom, easy access to coffee shops and restaurants. The owner is lovely and helpful. There is no elevator but caused no issues for us on the 5th floor. A restaurant below was quite loud one night. It's a big city, it's alive with sounds. However, I did not hear the neighboring rooms in the hotel. The bed was comfortable, room cleaned every day. I recommend if you can do the stairs and sleep well, if there happens to be noise.

        Room was fine, although a bit dirtier than I expect. There were a couple ants and I also saw a cockroach and another insect at one point. Really thin sheets. It was also inconvenient to have to use the key to lock/unlock the door even from the inside.

        Every star is too much here. We really wonder how the ratings here come about. First of all, we are not squeamish about hotels and have stayed in some of them. But the Elpis Hotel was the pinnacle of our trip. We deduct the first star because our room ceiling was moldy - and not just a little, but meters long. Other corners of the room were also moldy. Hazardous to health. We deduct the next star because we booked the room with bathroom "in the room". However, we received a room in which the bathroom was only accessible via the balcony. We deduct another star because the room was not clean at all. The faucet was apparently not cleaned for ages, on the mattress were quite a few stains and even hair. The A/C control was full of dirt so you didn't want to pick it up. The next star is deducted because our towels had holes. How can you offer guests something like that? The room had cardboard walls. You could hear everything outside, and the window above the door was only shielded with some plastic. The safe did not work and even when we asked the cleaning staff for help, nothing changed. We were really shocked in what condition a "3-star hotel" can be. How all the good reviews on Google and the other booking sites come about is really a mystery to us. We did not try the breakfast. When we approached the lady at the reception about the mold, she did not understand the problem. We were then allowed to look in another room on the fifth floor - but there was a really loud water pump running. The rooms in the pictures look completely different, don't fall for it.
