Hanoi Esplendor Hotel and Spa

I’ll just start off this review by saying I’d give 10 stars out of 5 if I could. I typically am not a huge fan of hotels in general, as I can sometimes find being cleaned after and looked after everyday to be a bit of an invasion of privacy, I know that might sound a bit strange but I usually like taking care of things myself and can be very skeptical of professional people who offer to do things for me, I need a personal touch to feel comfortable & trust being looked after. However this hotel has the most personal (yet somehow still professional) staff I have ever experienced, by a very very long way. The entire reception team are incredible but as many other reviews have mentioned; Kris in particular is the heart and soul of the hotel, he will remember your name from day one, he is relaxed and open yet professional, he will suggest activities that might suit your travel style (he is a great judge of character) but he will not force them on you or make you feel pressured that you have to do it. Oh yeah he also has A+ English if that is a worry for you I can guarantee you that if I wanted nothing but professional service from him, he would have sensed that too and nailed it to a tee. Other than the amazing service team, the rooms were fantastic, clean and have most-all of the amenities you would expect, the beds were the comfiest we have had on our 4 months of travelling (and they give 4 pillows on the bed which is a must for me!) I personally really liked the location, in the heart of the old quarter, but not in the thick of it to the point where it is loud and chaotic. There are fantastic: cafes, restaurants, spa’s within 5 minute walking but 15 minutes and you are right in the middle of old quarter It’s quiet at night compared to other places Now I’m trying think of some negatives The hot water & pressure can be a little inconsistent but even at its worst it’s satisfactory and at its best it’s incredible. That’s literally the only slightly bad thing I can think of Oh yeah! They also arranged flowers and a cake for my girlfriend’s birthday! Which helped to make it just that little bit more special. TLDR: book here it’s great value & quality, Kris is awesome and if he ever leaves here I will go stay wherever he is working.

Returning from my trip to Hanoi, I can't help but highlight how much better my stay at this hotel was. With almost two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, I've met my share of concierge and front desk staff, but Kris and Lina stand out in a league of their own. They paid remarkable attention to detail, making every aspect of our stay feel personalized. On my daughter's birthday, they went the extra mile, surprising us with a birthday cake, candles, and even a lighter – not something you'd expect from a big hotel chain. What sets them apart is their proactive approach. Before we even arrived, they assisted in planning our logistics and daily activities. And when we had to leave early one morning, they thoughtfully prepared individual packed meals for our entire group. Kris and Lina deserve high praise for their dedication to making our stay incredibly comfortable. The only downside was the noise from construction next door, which sometimes continued into late hours.
