We stayed in the hotel during the Christmas break. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were pleased to receive big red apples 🍎 on the Christmas Eve as gifts 🎁. Rooms were clean and beds very comfortable. We had extra bottles of water (very considerate). The breakfast area was very comfortable and the food was delicious. There was a fantastic restaurant across the road (recommended by the hotel staff). The hotel staff were very helpful in guiding us how to book taxis on mobile app ( unfortunately Uber didn't work in China). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will stay again in future. Highly recommended.

My first stay here for business, spent 4 nights. Overall the hotel and rooms are dated but very clean, safe and comfortable - impeccable cleaning service daily (see the handwritten note the staff left me, which made me felt very at home and not intruded upon like some other hotel brands). My room faces the main road and the warm rays of sunrise comes in every morning - its lovely. The central aircon/heating can do a serious upgrade as it was so warm that I could sleep without duvets; the heat doesn't bother me though I did noticed some rooms next to mine requested for additional portal fans.

1. Good service and helpful staff in general. 2. Breakfast has good variety, and selections change daily, which is good for guests who stay longer; however, improvement is greatly needed in the taste department. Also, the burners need to be fixed as many dishes are not kept warm enough. Moreover, the tea is extremely weak. 3. The Shanxi restaurant upstairs has very slow service. We waited for an hour for a dish of steamed fish only to discover that it hadn’t even been cooked. Noodles and rice of all kinds were undercooked despite our request to make it softer. Furthermore, the dishes were extremely salty. 4. The hotpot set meal in the restaurant on the ground floor didn’t come with enough beef or lamb, and the lamb was very fatty. 5. Rooms need more closet space. Also, the shower floor slopes away from the drain, causing water to pool quickly around one’s feet. Finally, the choices for room service are very limited. 6. The room was too hot no matter how I adjusted the temperature, making it difficult to sleep. In contrast, the lobby was too cold. Also, the sign of the hotel entrance is hard to notice, especially at night. It needs to be lit.

the worst services I've ever received from ANY of the lodging industry. After two hours flight delay and over one hour stuck in traffic from the airport to the hotel, we arrived at the hotel around 3 am. Without any greeting, the front desk personnel, Yu Ma, who was playing her cellphone behind the desk issued us the keys and asked for the credit card. One of two keys doesn't work for the elevators nor the room. After we open the room, we figured out it was a two beds room with extremely bad smell. We went back to the lobby. Again, Yu was playing her phone. First, she said our reservation was for two beds room, after showed her the confirmation, she then said they didn't have any one bed available. Not to mention, without authorization, she charged $500 USD for security deposit on my credit card. As we insisted to speak to a manager, we got a one bed room which bathroom sink clog issues. At least, it smells much better than the first one. Since it almost 4am, we just kept the room. I submitted the formal complaints to IHG group. Only received an email reply saying they couldn't locate my reservation. Therefore, think twice before you choose this holiday inn.

Rooms are quite good so if just a place to sleep you are looking for then Ok. Problem is temperature control in Chinese hotels. Too hot and uncontrollable. Being in a residential area there are not a lot of options for restaurants close by. However a 15 min walk to Deshengmen gate and then just a bit south to the lakes of Houhai. I find the breakfast quite good with a nice combination of Chinese and Western selections. The chefs are in general friendly and helpful.
