With the tight city bustle that Hong Kong exemplifies, this Holiday Inn stands proudly in the midst of blue collared area that is Dundas and Ferry Street. In any other western country, that might sound like a bad thing but given the proximity to everything in HK, this hotel is within a few minutes casual walk to restaurants and the MASSIVE commercial artery that is Nathan Road. With lots of shops, restaurants, bus stops and TWO subway stations, this hotels primary strength is location, location, location. Rooms are a little on the small side when compared to north american or western standards but generous enough. Rooms are a little worn but well maintained nonetheless. For those of you used to North American Holiday Inn breakfasts, this is going to be quite a shock: you order from a menu one of eight classic Hong Kong options and self served tea, coffee and juice is on hand. The breakfast is served fresh and efficiently on the 5th floor and is more than enough to at least put a stop to the pangs of hunger. Getting to this location from the airport is a little trickier since there is hardly any drop off spots directly in front of the lobby (unlike the Crowne Plaza next door) but still do-able. If you are staying for over 15 days, it is considered a long stay and you will have access to discounted laundry tokens and that is a pleasant surprise. Should you need to do big or heavy loads of laundry, there are also bigger machines in conventional laundromats just on Canton Road. Loved my stay here and would definitely be coming back for more. For those of you debating on whether to split a room for 3 guests per room, they will slide in a cot for your third person but I would recommend just paying for a second room as the cot can turn off some people due to the mattress being very thin. Or sleep on the couch if you're short enough. Already missing this place.

When i come to Hong kong, i prefer to stay on the central island side; hence my review is slightly biased! But i decided to stay in Kowloon on this trip! The area is not the best, its not unsafe, just not as nice as central island would be! The hotel overall is clean and comfortable beds! Definitely meets the ihg standard! Good wifi and black out curtains! Many good options around! Rooms are average size and comfortable and clean! Front desk is average! Wheel chair friendly! Would i return? Yes it i had to be in kowloon, but if i had a choice i would stay on the central island side

The rooms were small but that is true throughout Hong Kong, the breakfast menu was definitely Hong Kong...no cinnamon rolls. If you are coming from the west, do not come here for the breakfast. The location is very good although the action in Hong Kong is across the Harbor in Soho. This hotel is close by the subway and lots of shopping. Be sure to take your key because the elevator won't work up or down without it.

We stayed here for a week and overall our experience was positive. The room was clean and functional and the staff were friendly and helpful. The minor negatives were the location and the breakfast. Our shower head would not stay in the bracket but I managed to get it functional by using the clothesline. I never reported it to the hotel, but I was surprised that the cleaning staff did not do anything about it because it was surely noticeable. The bed was very firm, which may be a positive for some and a negative for others. On the positive side, we got two bottles of water daily in our room. The location is not terrible. It is about 1/3 mile from the nearest MTR station (TST). That is not a huge distance, but it is not convenient enough to be able to go back to the hotel during the day without losing a lot of time. One location positive is that there is a Wellcome market nearby. The breakfast tasted fine, but the options are minimal and almost all of them include a hot soup. The soup was tasty, but I really do not want to start my day with hot soup when it is in the 80s outside with humidity around 70-80%. Some fresh fruit would have been much better. We ended up skipping breakfast most days, or only eating the yogurt.

It's a relatively low cost hotel that's not particularly near either Mongkok or Yau Ma Tei station, about a 10 min walk from both. The breakfast is nothing worth writing home about. However, why I still give this place 4 stars is because the staff were really friendly. As a British Born Chinese, my Cantonese isn't great. I can converse fine but prefer to use English when checking in. The staff were friendly, understanding and complimentary about my Cantonese. When I apologised for our kids losing a hotel key, they were very sympathetic and asked me not to apologise. On the last day, as I do not have an HK mobile number, I could not call a red taxi and did not want to pay the exorbitant VIP transfer fee to the airport. The hotelier was very understanding and booked us a red taxi for the airport for a certain time. He kept our luggage locked by reception. Overall, yes it's not the cheapest or the best. But value for money, I can't really fault it. It's not special, but it's good value and the staff are the best part about this hotel. Thank you.
