Did not stay there, but walked into the lobby and was impressed. Friendly receptionist explained that they have a working whisky still, albeit infrequently used. Beautiful garden and a nice reception area. I hear that they have a rooftop pool. Prices seem to be moderate for this class of a hotel, especially given it's central location

I was quite surprised at how nice this place is. The room was wonderful. Big and luxurious. The building is very nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The only thing preventing a five star was that the roof top bar closes at sunset. In our case that was 6PM. That’s too early for a bar. Would have been great to sit up there and have a drink to wrap the evening. Still I would recommend this place. It’s great

Rooms back up to an alley across from several bars whose patrons leave the back doors open and scream until 2am. Then delivery trucks for those same bars arrive at 4am. The rooms are all hard surfaces so sound echos loudly and there are not even curtains to keep out the light (they have ineffective shutters). $50/day to park. Rock hard mattresses. The staff are nice and the common areas are interesting. It is centrally located so it's easy to walk to those bars and restaurants.big TV in the room.

Everything was extremely nice except for some inexplicable reason they chose to hang barn doors for the bathrooms. The door does not stay closed and just keeps sliding open. If you do use something to prop the door shut, there is still a 3 inch gap where anyone outside can see and hear you going to the bathroom. Not private. Not romantic. Just put in a normal door with a lock ffs.

Worth every penny! We came to SLO just for a quick weekend. We had planned to just roam around town and visit some vineyards. This hotel is perfectly located in the corner of all the activity in town. The rooms were way better than they appeared on line - much larger. The lighting was awesome. The service was perfect - you can even purchase wine and spirits at the front desk. The pool area is great and has lovely views of the mountains abs a great bar. Pool is not heated though so it’s only for the brave of heart. There is a restaurant onsite but with so many other good places, we didn’t try it this time. Others have mentioned the noise from the bar across the street here. Remember this is a college town and being in close proximity to the downtown is a benefit of this hotel. We had the city view and the front desk let us know the situation upon check in. We are city people so we declined the earplugs and enjoyed the sounds of the city. If we were looking for solitude we would book in the mountains. Would totally stay here again!
