If you are hell-bent on shopping in Thamel - this is the place to stay. No noisy bars around (quiet at night), rooms are basic but clean, hot shower and kettle. Good value for the money. Staff is friendly and helpful. For extra $5 you may have breakfast. Gazillion of tourist shops around.

We had a quick one night stay in Jay suites. While the family suite room which we took was quite spacious, living room was quite dirty. 24/7 room service not available. We had to checkout by 6:45 and even tea was not available. They charge extra 4% for credit and debit card as well and they did not inform. They did not send a person to pick up the luggage during checkout. Quite a bad experience overall. Don't recommend at all.

Before and after long treks to Mount Everest and Annapurna area the last 2 years; It’s nice to find a nice hotel and owner the likes of Jay Suites to call home in Kathmandu!
