Hotel Louisiana

Pros: - The receptionist, an old man in his 60s who is a tenant, is the single best thing about this place by far. Super cool and patient. Honestly, this place would be a 1 star review if not for him. He recommended a great resturant for what we were looking for, booked a reservation, ESCORTED us to the resturant, and then talked with the front desk to get a seat. Above and beyond. He called expedia when I had an issue with the internet, and was on the phone with them for a good 20 minutes trying to figure things out. Very laid back. Always ready to help even though his english isn't very good. I love this guy. Seriously, I AM ONLY GIVING THIS PLACE 3 STARS FOR THIS GUY ALONE. -Location is nearby attractions and Termini. Cons: - Its a 2 star hotel, but even then it was a bit disappointing. Walls and windows a bit thin. You can hear hallway noise and outside noise. -Rooms a bit dirty. - AC didn't work for one of the rooms. Showerhead didn't work well for another. - No wifi in the rooms. Apparently this is stated on the hotel site on Expedia...but this is 21st century. I mean...come on. Motels and 1 star hotels/hostels have wifi now a days. -Radiator next to toilet means you have to sit side ways on the toilet. - Difficult to even find hotel, since the hotel is only on the 4th and 5th floor (check in is on the 5th). -Breakfast is pricey and disappointing for what you get. I could go on, but you get the gist. Not a great hotel. But that receptionist....he single handedly saves this place (I'm sorry I lost the paper with your name on it).

I am truly impressed with my stay at hotel Louisiana. The staff are lovely and extremely helpful. They have given us maps, amazing food recommendations such as Coso Ristorante (baked potato filled with Carbonara!) and La Romana Gelateria which is 2 streets away and is the best Gelato I have tried and 4 scoop cone is 3.20 Euro's! The hotel reception is located on the 5th floor of the building which is not that obvious but once you know your sorted. The room we have is gorgeous, bigger than I expected with lovely decor with plugs, side tables, fridge and safe, comfy bed and the wardrobe is mirrored so you have a good mirror too. The bathroom is great, a nice marble sink, toilet and bidet, heated radiotar that you can put your towels on and a shower. The shower is really powerful which is great (turn left for hot and right for cold and out for more power). There is free wi-fi, not great in every room as they told us, but ours was great and if you don't have wi-fi in your room the reception area does. It is our 6th anniversary and my partner paid for the romantic package with Prosecco, candles (actual tealights and not fake candles), delicious chocolates and pomegranates to go with the Prosecco. There were fake flower petals in a heart shape with my initials on the bed which was beautiful. Really worth the extra, was a lovely surprise. We are day 3 of 6 and every day we have gone to reception (you give your key back to them before you leave so they can clean your room when you've gone) and they have given us great information everytime and been helpful with correcting my Italian when I ask (they gave a great level of English but I am trying to say as much Italian as I can) and have given us lots of helpful tips and places to buy bus tickets etc. There is also a continental breakfast you can add on to your stay for 5 euros per person per day which we have not got round to yet so cannot comment on, but will let you know if we do. The bus stop is around the corner and a tobaccinist sells the bus tickets and you can pick up water (aqua minerals naturale) which is still water and costs 2 euros for a huge bottle. The bus tickets 24 euros for 7 days and you can get on any bus on Rome. It's been great for getting to Piazza di Venetzia (where you are a 10 minute walk to the Roman Forum and Colloseum. The hotel as I said is in a great location, based in the financial district so lots of really impressive buildings, I feel safe here and id happily stay here as a single traveller, restaurants and markets nearby and it is in a quieter area but 5/10 minute walk to gorgeous fountains, the church of bones and famous streets. We arrived from the Ciampino airport (5 euros per person) shuttle bus to Termini train station which is the main station in Rome. It took 40mins. We were a 20 minute walk to the hotel (carrying a 20kg suitcase each so would have been quicker without) and it was a gorgeous walk past a Basilica, some fountains and old Roman pieces. Hope that was helpful, definitely stay at Hotel Louisiana if you want helpful service and a nice clean comfortable room with a great bed and in a great location. They have really made our stay lovely and we have had a great time staying here. We are just lucky as we have another 2 nights to stay.
