Hotel Not Hotel was not as bad as some of the recent reviews lately. I was hesitant about my stay at first but was surprised when I arrived. The staff was the highlight of my experience, everyone was so kind. The room was clean, we checked for bed bugs and had no issue. It’s small, but as upcoming guests you should know that already. The bathrooms and showers were clean as well. Coming this time of year, it was very quiet so no issues with noise from other guests or patrons coming in and out - mind you I was in an upstairs room. Unfortunately this was my first time in a “hostel” and I only lasted here for two nights out of the 4 nights I booked. If you’re traveling alone or you’re low maintenance, this is a great way to experience Amsterdam! The coffee shop around the corner is a great way to start the morning and ending the night with drinks at their bar. Overall, I enjoyed my time here.

This was a strange stay. Obviously this isn’t quite a hotel but it’s not quite a hostel. The whole establishment is very artsy and interesting which drew me in but it seems most of the functionality of a hostel and hotel has been forgotten. Our room was reminiscent of a storage closet directly behind reception. The whole room looked like a mirror from the outside which was cool except people kept doing their make-up and checking their hair on the outside of our room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean though the shared bathroom could get somewhat gross sometimes. They often neglected to refill soap and toilet paper. We were lucky but I was speaking to another guest who found bedbugs in his room. The restaurant next door is pretty good and there are lots of dining options in the area. Transportation is very accessible as you can rent bikes at the hotel or catch a bus/tram which are near by. All together this hotel is very aesthetically pleasing but lacks the functionality a hotel or hostel should have. Though the price is reasonable compared to places in the area I think it’s best to pay a bit more money to stay in a proper hotel.

So I was anxious about staying here due to all the reviews about the bed bugs luckily didn't see any but there was blood stains on our sheets maybe from previous bugs who knows, the bed was not comfy at all the pillows were absolutely tiny and also uncomfortable, the room was absolutely tiny only room for a bed you had to put luggage under the bed, the place itself was overall quite nice looking but not somewhere I would stay again. They also charged us 20 pounds when we got there and then a 50 pound deposit which we knew nothing about so that was quite shocking and a warning for others before you go. The toilets and showers were clean aswell and overall wasn't loud and all guests were respectful but not a place I would recommend staying.

Cool concept of hotel (sorry - not hotel) very poorly executed! We booked a room and weren’t shown pictures, a few days before were told the metres squared of the room. Literally both me and my partner couldn’t be stood up in the only floor space inside the room with the door open, had no windows and barely any ventilation, I tried moving the fan and the metal casing popped open I almost sliced my fingers off!! Then an hour later it pinged off and almost hit me on the head! The staff was useless and after we asked her to fix it she didn’t even bother to!! Extortionate price for all it is, bathrooms were always dirty. No toilet roll, no soap nothing. Tho I didn’t see them I’m pretty sure they had bed bugs as I had bites while staying here for 4 nights! Wifi is weak. Bar is overpriced I wouldn’t stay here again!

It's in the name, this is not your average hotel! This place is very fun : It's a playful, creative, practical location and the staff (especially Aly) are super friendly and helpful. The hotel is designed to be social, you wouldn't spend all day in your room here, but you're in Amsterdam, so you shouldn't in the first place. We love Hotel Not Hotel and we love Kevin Bacon!
