This is a station on the Osaka Loop Line. It was established in 1966. Before that, there was an Osaka City Tram station, but when it was decided that the City Tram would be abolished in 1968, this station was established to replace it. It is within walking distance from Ashiharacho Station on the Nankai Shiomibashi Line. The station's name comes from the name of a bridge that once spanned a river called Itagawa. The name Ashihara comes from the fact that the lower reaches of the Wesugawa River are low-lying wetlands where reeds grow thickly. To the south of the station is Watanabe Village, which was formed during the Edo period by a group of people who were mainly involved in the leather industry who relocated there. It is said that in the past, the smell of glue could be smelled all the way to the station platform. It is also known as a production area for taiko drums, and taiko shops are lined up in front of the station. The area around the station is a lonely landscape with inorganic apartment complexes and factories, except for Yamakyu Shokudo and a taiko shop.

A station on the JR West Japan Loop Line. With the abolition of the Osaka City Tram, it opened as a station of the former Japanese National Railways in 1966 between Ashiharacho Station and Nishihamacho Station. To the north of the station are small factories and residences, and to the south is a streetscape of Osaka municipal housing. There is a long-established drum manufacturer near the station.

It is best to avoid talking to station staff at Ashihara Bridge. There was a delay at the boarding station, so I changed routes and came to Ashihara Bridge, so I couldn't get out of the ticket gate. A station staff member said to me, ``It seems like I got on from ○○ station...'', so when I tried to explain what happened, he interrupted me and said, ``Ah, yes, yes,'' and after the station staff's explanation, I went back on my own. If you don't need an explanation from me, please don't ask me from the beginning. It is better to look into unavoidable circumstances and not get involved with the station staff at Ashihara Bridge.
