Hôtel de Bellevue Gare du Nord

Lovely clean and well kept hotel. Excellent choice for breakfast in a lovely dining room. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The underground was 5 minutes walk away with all the right connections to the city centre.

Cold, noise and dirt from roadworks and room left unlocked by cleaners. Safety issues. Not suitable for disabled guests. And concerned about why 350 breakage charge was demanded in cash! Please be aware the whole area around the hotel is being dug up and although the evening is quiet, as others have said.... currently there is so much noise from major road works. See photo of the entire area outside hotel being dug up. Even my noise cancelling headphones could not drown it out. The pavements around it are quite dangerous with poorly covered holes. I recommend that you avoid until things improve as I am sure that it could be great. Though not for disabled guests. I wonder if the Hotel has had problems with security as we arrived back from a day out at only 8pm and the doors were locked. It took a while to get someone to open the door!! Make up service is not good. Our room was left unlocked after the makeup service came while we were out!! Usually there were cleaning products left behind, parts missed, dirt and sand on the floor brought in from outside (due to works) was still there. The comforter dropped dust balls onto the bed every time we moved so I took it off and put it in the wardrobe. Poor service from reception led to us being overcharged for bus tickets. We complained about the room being unlocked and they were not interested. Also after a breakage we asked for some glass to be cleared up from floor while we went to breakfast. This was still here on return and we went back to reception about this and again not interested. The room was also cold but we had given up with reception by then. Our room that had been refurbished but had a very poor finish. Bare concrete and gap under the door, unpainted plaster around windows. After reporting our breakage we were demanded 350 in CASH. They refused to make a claim on the insurance which they acknowledged they can do but did not want to as it takes time! I would even of paid the excess. We could have paid then get it back once the claim was processed. Furthermore we booked the hotel because they had facilities for disabled guests. However the hotel entrance step was too large for my scooter to manage and we had to lift it over the threshold every time. I clipped the mirror that stuck out from the wall with my mobility scooter because the room was so small. I do understand that this must be paid for. I was prepared to pay for this but was shocked at the attitude and demand in cash. We refused and paid by card so we had evidence that we paid. With all these problems resolved it has the potential to be a lovely little hotel 2hich is quite attractive.
