ibis budget Manchester Airport

I was staying in this hotel with my 4 month old infant prior to an early flight the next morning from Manchester airport. Part of why is was confident to book this hotel is because a baby cot was available to hire, as stated on their website. To ensure it was clear I required a cot, I made a note in my online booking. The cot was further followed up with a phone call to the hotel (several months prior to staying) and an email to reception a few days before arrival to ensure it would be ready. Despite all this there was no cot ready in my room and I had to ask no less than three times for someone to and get the cost, because my baby was getting tired. When the cot came it was missing its mattress, and despite several pleas to the staff for them have a look for it (being a crucial part of the cot) it never came and there was never any apology. The significance off the issue seemed to be missed on the younger staff who had probably never had kids. To remedy the situation I had to make our own cot mattress out of folded sheets. It worked in the end and the stay was only for one night, but this aspect of my stay was far below expectation. It is not appropriate for a hotel such as the Ibis Manchester to state that a cot is available for hire and then not to have all the parts for it.

Please understand my review is for a one night overnight stop because of a T2 Thomson flight leaving at 0730hrs the following day so my wife and I simply wanted to have a base from which to travel to that flight with low expectation. We were surprised at the quality of service received. Check In was pleasant and efficient with a very helpful young man. Our room 34 was spotless, bed was a king-size and very comfortable. Shower and toilet perfectly good enough and clean with liquid soap dispensers. Lighting and TV were very good and flexible for all types of bright to dim lighting. Use charging slots and four 13 amp plugs plus a small desk. Room was small as described but perfectly adequate for a 1 night stopover. Latte Coffee and teas of all kinds were complimentary at any time of day. Food is provided at extra cost and good quality at a reasonable cost as were the snacks. In short a great stopover venue with a 5 minute walk to and from T2. Will definitely use again it was great and as we came by train it saved us a bundle on car parking costs, fuel and road delay stress. Well done IBIS!
