We booked a night at IN Chiado which we quickly regretted. After a hurried presentation of the space, we checked in and settled into the room. Although spacious, we admit that the photos on the website are so well done that they are deceiving. The antique furniture gives the room a more robust and less modern look, although the bed was comfortable, it only had a thin duvet and we didn't have any blankets available. For those who suffer from allergy problems, air conditioning would never be an option, and we ended up feeling some discomfort during the night. The shower cubicle was very narrow, allowing a person of average height to fit with some effort... you have no freedom of movement and a small touch on the hot water dispenser caused me to get badly scalded. The shower cubicle is built on top of a very high step, and it takes some skill and care not to take a big fall when going down… But the worst part was the HUMIDITY. Yes, walls and ceilings full of mold and damp with paint falling off, holes and water dripping from the ceiling, as it started to rain during the night… drips supported by a basin on the floor…. windows stuck, one of them wouldn't even open, the blinds didn't work... the curtains that were supposed to prevent light from coming in were also short and didn't close completely. It was 7am and we were already awake, when we needed to rest. The bedroom door was jammed, had to be closed by force and did not provide security. so much so that before we left we kept our valuables in the car... we didn't leave anything valuable in the room because we didn't feel safe doing so. Check out was done on the cell phone, no one came to greet us or ask if everything was ok, thank you and come back soon! (or not… in this case we won’t go back…) We just didn't ask for a refund and looked for another place to stay because we were on short notice for our commitments, and we only found rooms above €150. We stayed. But we didn't go back.

We chose this place, due to its location, the price/quality ratio, and because it seemed suitable to our needs, just staying overnight. We were cordially received, checked in, and only after we were installed in the room did we realize its real condition. The only points that were really the same as the photos, and the reservation we had made, were the fact that the room had a double bed, was spacious and had a private bathroom. Negative points: the bedroom door did not have an external handle, which would not be serious if it were not for the fact that to close the door, from the outside, excessive force had to be applied otherwise it would not close correctly, which generated a loud sound, uncomfortable for us and certainly for other guests as well, not providing any security for us to leave valuable goods in the room; Only when we decided to open one of the windows in the room, the room had two windows, to circulate some air, did we realize the state of the walls surrounding the windows, both with serious humidity problems, to the point where it started to drip inside. from the room, and only at that moment did we notice a basin on the floor to collect the drippings, as the curtains were drawn initially we did not notice the humidity present, nor the basin; one of the windows wouldn't open, and the other opened with great difficulty; both blinds didn't work, and the curtains on both windows didn't completely cover the window, which wouldn't be a big problem if the blinds worked, because that way we always prevented light from entering the room, but as even the blinds didn't work , and not even the curtains were big enough, when it dawned, around 7 am, the amount of light present in the room prevented us from having a proper rest; the shower cubicle was small in size, anyone would have difficulty moving at all to take a shower, in addition to the fact that it was necessary to be extra careful not to burn themselves in the water dispenser, which reached high temperatures, just not I burned myself because I was alerted to this fact by the person who accompanied me, unlike me, she burned herself while taking a shower; When checking out, we had no one present to give the electronic room key to, they didn't even call us to tell us how to proceed, or ask about how our stay was, we had to call the person in charge to ask where to leave the room. electronic key, etc. I don't recommend this place.
