This is easily my best accomodation for my holiday in Japan. The host was polite, informative and speak good English. Room was spacious for the price, modern, tidy, clean, and loved the Japanese style bathroom. It's also 5 min walk to kiyomizu dera. No issue on requesting to store Luggage during our trip around Kyoto. But the best part is he recommended US best local foods and scenic places around Kyoto that werent swarmed by tourist! Highly recommended!

It was all good till the last night . We were sleeping and the receptionist/owner opened the door of our room without knocking or ringing the bell. Wife and kid sleeping. Picture that , and suddenly a figure appears at the door . He was bringing detergent to fill the recipient that nobody asked for. In the middle of the night? Really?

Do not hesitate! Book this inn if available! The beds, comforters, air-conditioners, cleanliness, interior design, location and friendliness are equivalent to a 5-star hotel based on my Japan travel experience. Chain hotels in the same neighborhood charge up to $2500 USD per night. Sure, stop by one of them for a fancy cocktail at a rooftop bar, but then come home to this inn for as comfortable a stay at a fraction of the price. Taka is a very kind and helpful host who speaks perfect English, and we are incredibly grateful for his top notch hospitality.
