I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights and found it to be an interesting experience, although some aspects left me surprised given the numerous 5-star reviews. On the downside: 1) Mosquito Infestation: The mosquito situation was quite overwhelming. I had an unsettling encounter with these pests on the first night, and despite trying to sleep, one persistent mosquito buzzing in my ear made it nearly impossible. It took the concerted effort of my husband and me to eliminate 6-7 mosquitoes before I could finally enjoy a peaceful night's sleep on the second night. 2) Cramped Bathroom: The bathroom was disappointingly small and lacked a detachable shower head. I wouldn't recommend it for guests taller than 175cm, as the limited space made it somewhat inconvenient. 3) Location Challenges: The hotel's location posed some challenges. It required a tram ride of two stops or approximately a 20-minute walk to reach the main train station. This might not be the most convenient option for travelers seeking a more central location. On a positive note: 4) Breakfast Delight: The standout feature was undoubtedly the breakfast. It exceeded my expectations and provided a bright spot in an otherwise mixed experience. Charming boutique hotel in perfect location for visiting Florence. The staff was exceptional. Raffaella, was wonderful, as well as all others. The location was close to public transport (tram), good neighborhood restaurants and quick access to Taxi. Rooms were clean and beds were super comfy. The breakfast was exceptional, with great specialty coffee available on request. My only suggestion would be that the rooms were pretty sparsely decorated and public areas needed fresh carpet.

We had a great stay at La Fortezza. We had a slight delay which meant we arrived quite late, but there was a friendly and very helpful night porter who couldn’t do enough for us when we arrived. The room had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean, and very nice. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and everything tasted great. I have only put 4 stars for location as we were only there for a few days, but did find it a little difficult to find our way back on foot when visiting the centre of the city. This by no means is a mark down on the hotel, we could of easily took a cab, and the bus network runs right next to the hotel, this was more down to the layout of the city (and Google maps taking us the wrong way a couple of times😁). All in all I cannot fault the hotel, I would recommend to anyone visiting the city, and would like to say thank you to all the staff for making our first visit to Florence memorable. Grazie!
