JR Shin-Sapporo Station is the central station in Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo City, and the gateway to the new Sapporo subcenter. All passenger trains, including limited express trains, stop here. It is a designated alternative transportation station to Shin-Sapporo Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tozai Line, and is also adjacent to the Shin-Sapporo Bus Terminal and taxi stand. The station structure has a station platform on the 3rd floor, a station building on the 2nd floor, and a store on the 1st floor, and is directly connected to the station building "New Sapporo Station Terminal Building" (New Sapporo Arc City Duo 1 and Duo 2). It is a little difficult to find the ticket gate, which is connected to the adjacent commercial facilities (Sunpiazza, Aeon New Sapporo Store, Katepuri, Sunpiazza Theater, and New Sapporo Sunpiazza Aquarium) by a passageway. Under the elevated track is the ``Shin Sapporo Meitengai''. It is the third busiest station in JR Hokkaido after Sapporo Station and Teine Station. A redevelopment project is being carried out around the station, and the commercial complex Bivi New Sapporo will open on November 30, 2023.
